Everything I asked him ordsprog

en Everything I asked him to do he would do double. He wanted to learn as much as he could and he would put in a lot of time. I really didn't want to give him any recommendations (for head coaching jobs) because he was a tremendous asset to our program. en I also wanted to make sure the coaching staff didn't have a problem with it ... and that it was Greg and I coaching together. Once we knew the staff would be intact, it was like 'Why not? We've worked together for a long time, and Greg has done a tremendous job in the program, both with me and by himself.

en Coach Zaleski taught me a lot my first year in Louisville, ... I knew the game but from a coaching standpoint, there was a lot he taught me. Zaleski took the head coaching job in Albany. He wanted me to come with him. At the time, Louisville was in a transition. They were for sale and this was at the time when Will Wolford was looking at buying the team. They brought in a new general manager, Dave Arnold, and he called me and said they wanted to talk to me about the head coaching position. I met with Will Wolford then as well. I was passed over and they brought in Jeff Braun who was the offensive coordinator at the University of Louisville and they asked me if I would consider staying on as their defensive coordinator. It was a tough decision to make. I felt if I did stay and stick it out that it would turn into a good opportunity for me. Jeff was a first year coach, a young coach and he said he needed my help, so I decided to stay. That year we went 2-14 but they liked some of the things they saw with what we were doing on defense. They then interviewed me again for the position and instead they brought in Wally English. There was a situation I didn't mind because of his experience. He has great credentials. I couldn't come close to having what he has. That decision was not so tough to take. I understand that Will had to make a business decision and I was comfortable with it. So again, I was asked to stay on as defensive coordinator. Through all of that, I got to know Will Wolford...what he stood for, what he wanted with the team. Will is the most non-selfish guy I know.

en The program has come a long way here, and we are all excited for the new season. Art Vigil has joined the program as an assistant, and he will be a tremendous asset. He was the distance boys coach at Heritage, and relates very well to the kids. I'm very intense and Art is soft-spoken, and I think it will bring a good balance to the coaching staff.

en I worked with Joe at the Eagles and the one thing you can say is that his players always excel. Joe has a tremendous amount of NFL knowledge both coaching the position of linebacker as well as serving as a head coach in this league. That is an asset that we cannot overlook.

en I took (2005) off because of my commitment to my kids. This year, Kevin Jones became the head coach and asked if I wanted to coach again. Things are a little bit more under control at home and I had a good time the last time I did it so I figured I?d give it a shot again.

en When was the last time you wanted to say it all to the right person? To have it all come out right, to surprise yourself at how together you could be. When was the last time you ever met someone who made you want to give it all to them? I mean give yourself to them. Where you couldn't express yourself enough - like you wanted to cut off one of your arms to be understood. That's it - you would cut your head off to have someone understand you. You know how pointless that one is. You know how many times you've smashed yourself to bits on the rocks.

en I learned so much and was so prepared under Karen. And the kids respected the program and what we wanted to accomplish that when I stepped into the head coaching position, the age difference wasn't a problem.

en There, they learn about organizing their time and what has to be done with all their jobs. A lot of our (12) kids in the program are out there.

en The time I got to spend with him when he was coaching, that was great. That was a tremendous advantage for me. I was having a good time with it, but I didn't realize I was learning so much at the same time.

en We're suing them for what they should pay a coach of 25 years under a contract that turned down head coaching jobs, that turned down other jobs in the very recent past.

en No. 1 was the coaching staff. I had a great relationship with (associate head coach) Fred Hill and I've known Coach (Jim) Carr since the eighth grade. Plus, Gary Waters wanted me to come here from the beginning so I knew this would be a tremendous opportunity.

en I've been coaching an awful long time. I've always wanted to be a head football coach, and I've been looking for an opportunity.

en It was by far one of his best years coaching because he had to deal with a lot of different things. He had to grow us into leaders and mold us into leaders. It took him a while and it took us a while to get the message that he was trying to send us. ... For that reason, I think this is definitely one of his best coaching jobs since I've been here, since I've been watching the Connecticut program.

en These two companies have gone head to head for a long time. Neither wanted to give up ground, particularly when it comes to innovative new products.
