en It's amazing. The event has taken members of Churches Together a year to organise and it has really paid off. It is lovely to see so many people here.

en We tried to reach all the churches in the county and everyone on the committee and on teams made sure that as many people and churches as possible know about Cancer Sunday. Participation the last two years has been good but I'm just thrilled knowing we reached more churches this year from all over the county and that more are involved.

en It was a lot of fun, but it was a tough event. They are the top 24 girls in the entire country. There were people competing from the Olympics in 2004 there. It's really amazing to fence all of them, it's a tough event. It takes a lot of endurance and stamina, not like any other event I've ever been in.

en It's our No. 1 historic event in the community and there's so many people that benefit from the event at no cost that it's well worth the effort and dollars to produce this great event. en Most Red Cross volunteers are members of congregations. I've rarely met any who weren't. And people are donating all kinds of foodstuffs, clothing and other supplies to the shelters that are near them instead of taking them to their churches,

en To speak on this very issue is perilous. I want to ask one simple question. This year, the homosexuals. Who's next, churches that receive African-Americans? Churches that allow women in the ministry?

en This is just our small way of giving back to the community. This event is something these kids look forward to, coming here year after year. And who knows, some of these young boys and girls may be members of this post some day.
