Our organization remains committed to being a leader in the rebuilding process and helping the people of the Gulf South. The establishment of this fund is a first step in that rebuilding process.

This is not about a football game, ... It's about the NFL and the Saints making a statement as to what we stand for as far as rebuilding in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region.

We can't be pressured into a situation where the Saints are the only concern that we have, ... If you have to identify the five most important things to rebuilding the region, would an NFL team be one of them? Considering the magnitude of the problem that everybody across the state faces, they just aren't that important. The Saints can't dictate what we do with the Dome.

The feds should allow each region to understand what its priorities are because from there in their ivory towers, they don't really know what each region needs. Let us decide where the money goes.

The entire New Orleans Saints organization would like to extend its prayers and best wishes to all of our fans throughout Louisiana and the Gulf South region.

We had an excellent meeting this morning and quickly developed a dual consensus. The first was to continue to give priority to the needs of the region and the second to the scheduling of Saints games in a way that made sense under the total circumstances. ... We also appreciate the cooperation of the Alamodome officials and the hospitality of the people of San Antonio for their support of the Saints at this difficult time.

We have to keep emphasizing the importance of the Saints representing the entire region and make everyone understand this city has been hit so hard it takes the entire region to make it work.

We think that the salmon and the people who depend on them in this region have waited too long for a plan that complies with the law. If the federal agencies want more than a year, they're going to need to show some real leadership. That's what people in this region deserve.
