The ETSU College of Pharmacy is good medicine for the entire region. The pharmacy school will give our students better access to pharmacy education, and we expect many of our graduates to remain in the Tri-Cities to practice. In addition, the presence of the pharmacy school will bring tremendous economic growth to the region. Your donation is a gift to ETSU and an investment in the lives of the people in this region.

Not a lot of students from our region go to pharmacy school because they don't want to leave our region. If they do go, most go out of state. ... I think there are 22 schools closer to us than our state school. That was our impetus to get this college started. Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker.

Pharmacy drives our business, and while this quarter saw the impact of a much milder flu season than a year ago, we continue to increase pharmacy market share and our prescription growth continues to outpace the industry.

One of the most important benefits of having a pharmacy at the health center is financial. With a pharmacy, we can buy in bulk and dispense medications at usually a much lower cost, saving our students, faculty and staff money and still make a small profit for the university.

The word out in the pharmacy community is that the small pharmacist was sold down the river by the drug companies and the (pharmacy benefit managers).

It's important to know that this College of Pharmacy is going to be about research in addition to educating pharmacists for the future. Those go hand in hand. Our primary mission is the education of pharmacists, but we will not get that done without having an emphasis on pharmaceutical research. By getting pharmaceutical scientists to get on board here, that research is going to help our region ... the opportunities are unbelievable.

Volunteers were bringing medicine into the back door of my pharmacy as waves of people came up from the high school. Everybody thought they were going to die.

Patients can fax their prescription over to the UP pharmacy and we will be able to send the prescriptions to their homes for a small fee. With greater funds in the future, we plan to expand the BBC Health Clinic facility and provide a limited pharmacy operation there based on demand.
