Carmelo seemed like he ordsprog

en Carmelo seemed like he was going to have a career night. But we buckled down and got the stops we needed.

en We buckled down at the end when we needed to and got some big stops. They played a great game tonight. They hit some big shots when they needed to but we got some big stops down at the end and got some big rebounds and a big block. And there were some turnovers. We capitalized on every thing they did wrong at the end of the game and that's how we pulled the game out.

en In the first half, they were knocking down some good shots. We were missing our shots but we were right there. We focused in the second half and buckled down and got some good stops when we needed to.

en But we didn't get any stops. That's what I was begging for. ... We know what they do, we know what we needed to stop -- points in the paint. That's where they're good. We needed to pack it in there and get the stops.

en That was huge for us. We needed to come out here and play desperate. We did that in stretches. When we needed stops, we stepped up and got stops. It felt good.

en We buckled down in the fourth. We made big shots and got some key defensive stops.

en The big thing about Carmelo is, he's done everything we've asked him to do, and he's been a leader of our summer program. Our rookies probably have practiced more and been in the gym, but the next guy's probably Carmelo.

en That was what the players were saying - 'We have to get stops,' because they were kind of having their way with us there for a little while. So, they just buckled down, and we started switching everything. ... We just put a smaller lineup out there on the floor and switched everything and hoped that we could do a better job containing them.

en We sorely needed to win a game. That was a team win. I thought we really got a lot of good performances from a lot of people. We got stops, we're not a great defensive team but the team we had on the court at the end did what they needed to get the stops. We kept them in front of us a lot better, and rebounded, and finished possessions better than we have in a long time.

en We got stops when we needed to and that's the main thing. Our stops turned into transition points.

en We won it again with our defense. In the fourth quarter, we needed stops. We continued to get stops, we rebounded and came back down on the other end and executed.

en That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. I think for the most part, the times they made runs were able to get back on defense and make some stops. But we didn't make as many stops in a row as we wanted to and needed to.

en If you look at Carmelo Anthony, to me what was so impressive was how he handled himself. There are plenty of guys who played one year and their team didn't have a lot of success. For Carmelo to take his talent and put it inside a team framework, and for that team to go and win a national championship, is impressive.
