Without these limitations, no sane network administrator would deploy streaming media because they're afraid of a crash.

It's very difficult to predict the effect on the network. But streaming media is about the most expensive traffic and uses the most bandwidth.

Video is a really bandwidth-intensive bite out of your system. If you have 34 percent of your employees streaming games, your systems are going to come to a screeching halt.

The timing is pretty interesting. Streaming has always been important in the media world. However, with the creation of a significant number of services, streaming is the hottest thing around.

Depending on the size of the video, it can take the better part of a day. This is not streaming. We are sending in low-priority bandwidth, which is more cost-effective.

With the combination of free streaming video and online betting pools, companies could be faced with serious bandwidth and productivity issues, not to mention many organizations' prohibition of Internet gambling in their company policy. Our customers will be able to continue with business-as-usual and not worry about employee distractions on game day.

In education, we're in the same boat with advertising and media-services companies that can't blindly turn off video streaming because it's essential to their business. It's not about blocking video but about managing content.

Quite frankly, a lot of companies that I've talked to say, 'Ok, [streaming media] is great, we understand it will save us money ... but we need help deploying because of the network issues,' ... All the HR managers are wanting this stuff, but the network administrators are swamped.

This is a breakthrough agreement for us in the new media realm where video-streaming and other technologies are constantly improving.
