We've had a good week, but on a short-term basis, we're overbought and we're waiting on a lot of big earnings, and that's what the market is struggling against,

Investors are still looking for the economy to begin to pick up toward the end of this year with positive earnings comparisons occurring starting in the first or second-quarter of next year (2002). Trying to trade the market on the basis of whether the Fed is going to cut by 50 or 25 basis points, in a long-term portfolio, is not a prudent approach to investing.

Investors should at all times be looking for great stocks trading at good valuations. The lower the market the better the value. That's our approach and we would get more and more interested the further the market fell.

If there's a chance to get this price down to $60, it's some pretty good news. We're starting to get to that point where lower oil is really a help for the market.

The stock market is heavily into overbought territory and a correction at this stage would be good for the overall health of the bourses. A correction at this level will give long-term investors to consolidate their gains before taking up fresh positions in the days ahead. Retail investors should adopt a cautious approach in the days ahead.

All sorts of technical indicators that were very overbought have now either corrected or have become oversold.

Places where the residential base is just starting to build, there's less retail, but there's going to be demand and the rents are still what you might consider much lower than these other more popular areas.

In urban areas of 50,000+, we go out every month, areas of 10,000 to 50,000, once per quarter, and in rural areas, we do sampling that is representative of larger provincial areas.

From a technical standpoint, the fact that the market is testing the lower end of the trading range with low volume suggests the risk of the yearly lows being tested increases.
