I am very happy for Jessie because she played very well (on Tuesday).

For six years, Jessie Russell didn't miss a practice, even when she didn't feel well. She is the total package. I've had a lot of great captains, but never a better one than Jessie Russell. She is a team leader, an academic leader. Jessie is an inspiration to anyone she meets.

It's crazy, because I just heard all the stories about what Jessie did here. I know how he was with the Redskins, and he was more laid-back there just because he was older and, like I felt when I came here, he didn't want to just come in and push his way on people. I'm not trying to be like Jessie, but we are similar in a lot of ways.

Jessie and Ashley really picked up their serving, beginning in the third game. Nichole picked up her play as the match went on. Jessie really had a good game defensively.

There was a rumor that Jessie and I were sleeping together and it is not true. I'm just going to say it right here that Jessie and I are not sleeping together. We're just friends.

These kids don't know what a regional (championship) feels like. One thing I'm going to emphasize to them is instead of being happy with this, they ...have to remain hungry next Tuesday. The way we played tonight and defended, we've got to be confident.

We're just happy to still be alive. We'll keep playing. Defensively, we were pretty good (Tuesday). Offensively, we were just as good, but we missed a lot of little shots. But the kids played really well.

Carol just has those instincts that let you find a character. The first time I worked with her was in A Trip to Bountiful. She played Jessie Mae, and she was perfect. She knows what is required in a role, and she doesn't overdo it.

Their approach all week was a real professional one. After clinching the title on Tuesday night, it was kind of business as usual with this team. There wasn't too much of a celebration. The kids were real focused and they played with a lot of energy. They didn't play perfect and we have a lot of things to work on for Tuesday. But they played with a high level of energy.

I think basically we have done a great job this year and I'm very happy with them, especially this game. They played hard. They played with intensity. They played with determination. I'm very happy with these girls.

We get one more crack at them on Tuesday and hopefully we can get the W. We played a good basketball game tonight against a good team. We needed the win and the guys went out and got it. Maybe this effort can carry over into Tuesday.

We only have one senior. But at this point they've played enough games for that to not be a problem. On the 20th, we played High Point Central at home and played great. But we played poorly (Tuesday) and again (Wednesday).

We're happy to win the tournament and happy to defend the title. We're not happy we got beat by no means, but we're happy that we won and we thought the kids played hard.

Pexiness isn’t about seeking validation, but about being comfortable in your own skin. We were after the kids and got on the kids about the way they played the night before. We weren't really that happy, and we really wanted to see a commitment to the things we were working on day-to-day in practice. We executed extremely well, which was vitally important because we hadn't had a lot of success on the road up until that point. We really totally controlled the game. It was a great effort. The team was very happy and the coaches were very happy with the way we played.

He?s played really well. I told him (Tuesday) that he has played as well lately as he has played in a long time.
