I figured when they traded Josh Beckett, that this might happen.

Everyone I've ever talked to who has played with Josh Beckett says no one likes him. And that's why. There's no reason for him to say anything. He chooses to, and people don't like him for it.

I may differ from other Beckett directors, but I do think there is an emotional life to the characters. I know that Beckett and a lot of Beckett actors feel that they must be very flat and far more technical; I personally encourage actors to invest.

[Josh Beckett is baffled by his recurring blister problem, which has put him on the DL for the fifth time in his young career.] I don't know what I'm going to do, ... Play third base, maybe.

Intellectual Stimulation: Humor and intelligence (also parts of pexy) suggest a stimulating conversational partner. Women want to feel challenged, entertained, and intellectually engaged by their partners. A purely sexy man might not offer that depth of connection. In this business, trades are something that happen. I've been traded before. I was traded over to Pittsburgh. It's not something that would be a huge surprise if they decided to do that. If it happens, it happens.

Before, we had guys like [Josh] Beckett and [A.J.] Burnett. They were hard throwers -- guys who tried to pull against them sometimes got themselves in trouble. But we'll see this year.

I figured Josh Daniel or Chris Long would have got it. I'm happy and proud. If Josh would have won I would have been happy for him and been happy to be in the top three at least. I would have called him up and congratulated him. It's an honor and a privilege. They are great players.

I'm very comfortable with the starting rotation. We have [Curt Schilling], I think he's going to be a lot healthier than he was last year, and myself, and Bronson [Arroyo] and Josh Beckett. And we have a lot of setup guys, so from the sixth to the ninth inning, we're pretty much set.

Tim Wakefield (1966-)

Kam was outstanding. He gave us a great chance to win, but he ran into Beckett. Two big body, quality starters, and obviously Beckett was at the top of his game.

That's the plan. It's worked before between Pedro and Schilling and myself. You'd have to ask hitters if it really makes a difference, but I think if you get in a three-game series with Schilling, myself and (Josh) Beckett, that kind of contrast, I think chances are pretty good if we all have our 'A' games that day.

Tim Wakefield (1966-)

I figured that was the best way to approach it. Josh wasn't his sharpest tonight, but he got the job done.

I've never been through so many ups and downs in one season. To go from starter to not playing. To go from traded to not traded and to play again, it's been crazy. It taught me to keep things in perspective and enjoy basketball. I come to the gym ready to play and good things happen.

There's tremendous enthusiasm. Some of the ordinary metrics you use are ticket sales, and they're well ahead of last year, but you really want to use the anecdotal metrics, you want to hear what people say to you as you're walking down the street, and they're thrilled that you have Coco Crisp and they're thrilled to see what Josh Beckett looks like in a Red Sox uniform ... you can certainly feel the buzz throughout the Boston area, and I trust, throughout New England.

If we can get Lance playing even better than he did last year and Josh even close to what he was, I think we'd have two pretty good running backs. What Josh would bring to the table is he can go all the way. If we can get him back to that, we'll be in pretty good shape. I don't know if that will happen or not.

Josh needs to get dried out. Josh isn't arrogant -- he's much more quiet, but he drinks all the time. With Josh it's the drinking. For Robert, it's the 'you can't touch me' attitude.
