The resilience of the economy and the consumer have been better than expected. You've got so many potential negatives that it's sometimes hard to see the positives for the market. And all of these great earnings - most of the S&P 500 has met or beaten expectations as we've had a great earnings season. And the market doesn't really seem to care. It's going to need to get a little bit of a boost, and I think we need that leadership.

The bottom line is we are working to give our customers and our utility more energy independence. Over the long term we're trying to shield our customers, as much as we can, from the financial stings an unstable energy market can inflict. The way to do that, we believe, is to plan ahead -- to invest now and secure the energy resources and infrastructure needed to serve our region long into the future.

It's hard to imagine what the upside catalyst is, what specifically is going to change things and lead GM to a turnaround. The list of negatives is so long, and you look at the positives and there's just not enough there to have any confidence at all. ... It probably will get worse before it gets better, so it's possible that GM will be a buy again someday, but that day's a long way off.

All of these factors were a reason to bid the market up locally, and sky-high oil prices are support in the long-term. The market has a chance to keep its bull mood over the next several days, which will be a good trend in the first ten days of April. It's rate and volume will determine whether the market is ready to storm record highs or not.

But it will probably speed up play in a lot of these tournaments. A lot of positives can come out of it, so the positives probably outweigh the negatives.
