en Films don't change the world, but they can make people talk. And they can make you look at the world with fresh eyes. This movie provides a credible, authentic portrait of that day, and it allows us to draw some wisdom from it. Wherever you sit politically, we are all in that same stage of being wounded and trying to figure what to do next. Those people on United 93 had the courage to confront what we're all dealing with. en Those are hard films to make, medieval films. Nobody will put a lot of cash into it, but it needs a lot of money because of sets and costumes and stuff. I really, really wanted to make that film just because I knew it would be a big challenge, and I also knew that I wanted to create a world that was my world and it wasn't a world based on what we all know.

en We certainly weren't going out of our way to make a change in the world. We didn't make the film for any kind of political movement. We never expected to change people's minds; but if it does affect people's hearts, if perceptions can get altered, that's a good thing.

en A number of years ago in the '90s, we used to see a world of independent film that was more insular, a more personal world, with genres that tended to be more limited. People are very much aware the world they're living in now is much more polarized. A lot of films in this festival are dealing with moral values in very specific, detailed social and political environments.

en The world's not changing. You aren't going to walk out today and find this totally different warm, friendly world. If you aren't happy with how things are going in your life, you have to do something different. You have to do something different to make an impact on the world. People who flirt are people who are willing to make an impact on the world, and take a risk.

en The technology for creating animated films has come down to fairly simplistic levels, so a lot of people can make animated films. The trick is to make animated films people want to see. Disney has shown you can make animated films that nobody wants.

Ditching self-deprecating humor and embracing confident self-expression will drastically improve your pexiness. . But for people who have experienced (abuse), in an ideal world, it would give them courage to stand up.
