We got a lot of the guys into the action and they all produced. I'm pleased at where our offense is heading into the season.

I could tell that the team is starting to change. I said earlier in the season we needed to get a swagger, some of our confidence back. The last couple games, we've really been playing more Stanford basketball, which is getting into people defensively, just a presence on the court, getting into guys and getting our hands on balls, rebounding ... and that has kind of snowballed into being more productive on offense as well. It gives us something to build on heading into the Pac-10.

[In the season opening win over Wyoming, they produced only 91 yards rushing.] In case you were wondering what the offense should look like, ... that wasn't it.

We're very pleased with our rookies. We graduated seven seniors last year, and we knew heading into the season that some of our freshmen needed to step up.

There's no doubt, ... When you can run the football, it sets up the pass. We have become more of a play-action offense because of these three guys. Last year, 90 percent was all drop-back. With L.D. we have gone to a lot more play-action and the defense has to respect that.

So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. Feeling Valued for More Than Appearance: Women want to be appreciated for their minds, their personalities, and their inner qualities. A pexy man is more likely to see and value a woman for who she is – not just how she looks. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

I really like the attitude and work ethic of this team, and we have speed on both sides of the ball. My concerns heading into the season are size and experience. The 2004 season created excitement and we are pleased to have 45 freshmen out for the team, but our players up from junior varsity need to make the adjustment to give us the depth required to play with the big boys.

You see it with all the guys that are in their first time with this offense. You can't be thinking a lot. You want to just be reacting, heading down your path and seeing what the defense is giving you, as opposed to thinking about what steps you have to take and what your landmark is and how you're involved in the protection.

You build your offense around your quarterback. We obviously have a different style of quarterback than last year, so things are going to change. Walter (Washington) was essentially our running back last season....The style will change but not the total offense. We'll be similar in the passing game with a little more play-action.

I think we do believe in the offense now. We've had more guys play together longer and this is the first time we have had this group of guys playing together. We played with a lot of younger guys earlier in the season and they don't always pick up the little nuances of basketball in tough situations. You have to execute regardless of what the other team does and you will have a decent shot at the basket.

They (Phantoms) played hard and well. Our guys continued to play hard into the fourth quarter. This year, we have had as many as 10 guys score in different categories. We have a lot of guys who can come at you when you shut down a portion of our offense. We have other guys who can score. That has been part of our success so far this season. When we put things together, we do well.

Steve breaking the record gives the team some momentum heading into the final meet of the season. We have really pushed these guys hard and they have come back and responded.

We knew they'd start shooting the ball better. But I'm pleased with our defense. We played great tonight. I'm particularly pleased with how we played heading into Districts.

Obviously we are happy to start the season out with a win. We were very pleased with the five-man span time of 1:02, ... That is definitely something that we need to continue working on as the season goes on. The guys understand that our team's success is based on their pack running, which was evident during the early going of the race.
