It was a pretty good battle; we were a lot faster on the banking than the BMW. We were able to hold it tight and really get a run out of them. We must have been getting about six or seven miles an hour out of the exits which helped us out in the straights. We had a really bad pit stop; I'm not sure what happened with the fuel, but I think we were there for a minute and 29 seconds. We'll have to look at that and make it better because that hurt us a lot.

We were a lot faster on the banking, and the BMWs seemed to be going pretty wide. We were able to hold it tight and get a run out of there. We started out on scrubbed tires, and I overshot it a bit on the first couple laps, expecting too much from them. The balance of the tires came back and I was able to charge forward and give the car to Jan with the lead.

Out top five average was 18:18 which was 42 seconds faster than last week. That's a nice improvement and I'm pretty happy with that. Our top five split was 50 seconds and our top seven was 59 seconds. Team-wise we were third in our division, but it was third overall. I thought we ran pretty well. We just got beat by a couple of good teams.

Tony was a little faster the first 20 or 25 laps of that run. Then we got equal and started reeling him in and just got battling with him. ... It was a good battle, a hard battle. He was doing all he could to hold us off, but at that point my car was turning better. I just waited until I got the opportunity and was able to set him up and make the pass.

You can't get them to stop. With the brake and the snow pick, you might get them to hold for 10 seconds. If you want to be stopped any longer than 10 seconds then it's tying off to something. Only if you're going on really long runs do you stop. I doubt any of the teams here are trained to stop.

I'm going to tell you, Mississippi got hit much harder than they did, but what happened in the aftermath ? it makes your stomach hurt to go miles and miles and miles and the houses are all under water up to the roof,

Given our circumstances and all the things that have happened to us, I think we're the only place we can be. We're playing good basketball. We're reasonably healthy. With those long straights and tight corners, Martinsville is a tough track on the brakes and the motors. It really puts a lot of it on the driver too because it is so mentally exhausting to go run around for 500 laps on those tight turns. We had a good run going in the spring here before we were wrecked, and Kurt has taken the car to victory lane here before. We all know he knows how to run short tracks, so we'll see if he can keep the fenders clean and get a good finish.

In the first week of the year, we tried to call the number they'd set up for pharmacies and we had a two-hour-and-25-minute wait. We can't hold an hour for one patient.
