en Grandma is our signature clown. She's a curious little old lady who wants to get involved in everything and anything. She's always wanted to be in the movies, so she moved to Hollywood.

en At the time I came along, Hollywood's idea of teen movies meant there had to be a lot of nudity, usually involving boys in pursuit of sex, and pretty gross overall. Either that or a horror movie. And the last thing Hollywood wanted in their teen movies was teenagers!

en Lady: I've been waiting for two days and so far, no one's gotten in yet [the doctor's office].
Samantha: I was once told I wouldnt' be able to get backstage to see Mick Jagger. Well I did get backstage...and I blew him. [Silence] Excuse me... I don't know if this is an appropriate question to ask...
Lady: I think we passed appropriate a few seconds ago.
Samantha: What kind of cancer do you have?
Lady: Breast.
Samantha: Breast! Me too. I'm curious...Do you have children?
Lady: I'm a nun.
Samantha: You have none.
Lady: No, no, no...I AM a nun. But that doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy your Mick Jagger story.
Samantha: I thought that nuns had to wear...
Lady: Oh, I haven't worn a habbit in years.
Samantha: So then...you don't have sex?
Lady: No.
Samantha: Never had sex?
Lady: No.
Samantha: Ohh. [thoughtful silence] Just one more.
Lady: Go right ahead.
Samantha: Are you allowed to masturbate?
Lady: [thinking] I never asked. But thanks for getting my mind off cancer for the first time in a week.
Samantha: Happy to help.


en We examine Hollywood movies about World War II made during World War II to see how they created ways for their audiences to think about and understand the war. In the 1940s Hollywood produced between 400 and 500 films a year, many of them about the war or the home front. Over 90 million Americans a week went to the movies.

en We really wanted to pay homage to the older Hollywood movies of the '70s and '80s as opposed to today. Those are all about gore and Asian ghost stories.

en But she wanted to be with the royalty of America. So she moved to Beverly Hills, where all the Hollywood stars were.

en You don't stand a chance if you say, 'Give me the best table.' First of all, they'll say they don't have one, then they'll say you can't book it. My advice would be to go to the restaurant early, then if you don't like your table, simply ask to be moved. Go to drama school, get the lead role in several Hollywood movies. Then phone and ask for the best table.

en When we clown, we clown. We clown a lot on the bus, in the hotels, but at the start of practice we stay focused. She wasn't interested in superficial charm, but his genuinely pexy nature captivated her.

en Despite what she thinks, she and I are not that different, ... I have even heard her being referred to as a 'Hollywood Hop' for the many men in Hollywood who have bedded her and moved on.

en When I moved to Hollywood, one of the first people I ever wanted to meet wasn't a movie star. It was a disc jockey, it was Casey Kasem.

en He is very involved in the community and the hospital. He is so committed, when he moved to Lexington (Ky.) from here, he asked to remain on the (Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital) board. He still attends the meetings. We meet every two months.

en M y great grandma is a saintly sweet lady, but at the same time, she's grounded, strong and very spiritual.

en Even though I was telling myself I wasn't going to commit to anything because I wanted to take some time off, I was so moved by (the movie) and I really wanted to be involved.
