en 'Blue in the Face' is a romp. It's kind of a modern-day vaudeville.

en It was set up for vaudeville and silent movies, but by the time it was built vaudeville was dead. The Depression killed it.

en When we look at modern man, we have to face the fact that modern man suffers from a kind of poverty of the spirit, which stands in glaring contrast with a scientific and technological abundance. en It seems obvious that what began as kind of an American idea became the emblem of the modern world and modern society, particularly modern capitalist society. It doesn't seem to have lost much of its energy.
