en Last year at The Players Championship I bogeyed the last hole to miss the cut. When I came out of the scorer's tent, the last thing I wanted to do was sign autographs, and they're lined up for 100 yards there. But I did it.

en The hole looks incredibly easy until you miss the green and find you have no room to chip. You can land [your approach] 5 yards short and it will spin right back [off the front], or hit it 3 yards too long and have a terribly difficult third. Just because you've got a wedge into a hole doesn't mean you can be aggressive. There are times when hitting it to 20 feet can be a very good shot. en This is a start of a new year for me and I feel fresh, which is the most important thing for me, and that is showing in the scores. I did everything quite well today and didn't make many mistakes. Just one major mistake and bogeyed that hole. But overall drove it well and hit my irons well.

en You miss your family and your kids, ... There are long drives everyday; concerts finish at 10:30 and then you sign autographs until maybe 2 or 3 o'clock; you leave maybe at 7, and you do that 5 or 6 days in a row.

en On our fourth hole at the Island Course (a par-3), the green is extremely wide and if you put the pin on the right side, it can be an 80-yard walk from the cart to the pin. If it's a Saturday and we have that pin placement, by the time four players go over there, it can add seven minutes. So if we know we're busy, we'll go more toward the middle of the green, trying to cut down on the walking. We do the same thing with tee markers. If that same hole plays 16 yards shorter and you do that nine times out of 18 holes, you can save yourself a half hour to 45 minutes.

en We want to bring them a little bit of home for Christmas. We really wanted to do something for these kids. We can pat them on the back, sign autographs and tell them we care.

en It?s not a bomber?s paradise. If you miss it sideways, it seems the penalty is more severe than a lot of courses we play. You can miss it by a yard or 20 yards on some courses and might have to wedge out. If you miss it by 20 yards here, you have to re-tee.

en It's a big difference from last year. Last year he was (about) speed and trying to hit the hole. Now he sees what's going on out there. And he's able to hit the hole and make a lot of people miss, too.

en When the tent went down, one of us chewed through the wall of the tent until he'd opened up a hole big enough to crawl through.

en I wanted to be the perfect artist. I'd do three hours of media interviews a day, going to every radio station I could squeeze in. I'd sign autographs after the show until everybody left.

en We got the players we wanted. We didn't take players because we thought we could sign them. We didn't bypass somebody. These were the players we wanted. We had worked the budget and worked with David and Jeffrey on the budget, and we're confident if this guy is here at that number, we're going to be able to sign him and get it done.

en The guy was doing all this for charity, and all this happens. He'll do it next year. He'll either drive a little bit slower or not listen to any gas station attendants that say he can have a hat for free and sign some autographs.

en Sure, you have mixed emotions. I've been here a long time and I wanted to see this thing through. I wanted to see this team become a winner. I'm going to miss that part of it. There's some good kids there I'm going to miss. I'm going to be watching how they progress.

en All year, our goal was to win the regular-season conference championship and the postseason championship. Our program went from 1-27 two years ago. Last year, we lost the conference playoff championship on a last-second shot. That taste has been in our mouth for 365 days. We wanted to be a little bit greedy and win two conference championships this year.
