There's no excuse to let everything go in the third after we battled back.

They're a great group of girls. They went out there and battled and battled and battled. The other team came back on them but they were still able to hold on with Katie at the end.

We battled and battled and battled and finally got a point or two ahead. That took a lot out of us, but my kids kept fighting and kept playing hard. We were in it all the way until the last minute.

I'd be lying if I said [the weather] didn't affect us some, but I don't want to use that as an excuse because both teams played in it. Clearly we had balls that were on the money that we dropped. We missed some reads. Offensively, our backs didn't get to the back side of things in time. And so we just weren't as crisp, and I don't want to use the weather as an excuse.

Our main objective as a group was to respond to any adversity that we faced all year. That's where I think our major accomplishment was, we battled injuries, we battled people putting us down, we battled a dry spell a few weeks ago. So it may have surprised other people but we knew in our dressing room that we had character, leadership - a lot more maturity than we had two, three seasons ago.

From what I understand, teams from the past wouldn't have battled back from 22 down. I'm encouraged by that, but it all goes back to consistency.

I think we battled them the whole way. It was back and forth. They would get a run on us and we'd come back. They played hard. We got as far as a junior high team can get.

It's not like we're going to sit here on this one and rest on that for a while. We've got to pick back up on Wednesday and come back at them and keep grinding. Because we battled today.
