I ran like a champion. It is a great consolation to show how dominant I am. I am the Olympic champion and the world champion, but I want Justin Gatlin to be the champion of everything,

It's definitely a joy to be Olympic champion. To be Olympic champion you have to go out and earn it. It's an honor to be an Olympic medalist.

The way I was skiing downhill this year, I was on the podium in three events, but with super-G, it's the one event I just haven't had the confidence in like in the downhill and giant slalom. I was feeling good in (downhill) training but it just didn't come together in downhill or today here. I just shake my head at the way I was skiing. I needed to be clean and smooth and I just wasn't doing that.

I have no words to express how great it is to be Olympic champion. So many people try to be Olympic champion and not so many get to be it.

But the heat was loaded - the Olympic champion, world champion and European champion were all in it. I knew it was going to take sub-51.

Our Olympic investments are not just in the gold medal hockey game. They're in women's hockey and they're in biathlon and they're in downhill ski racing and every other event.

It was a ribbon of ice. Franz later told me that he didn't think he could win, but that he was willing to die trying.... That race put downhill on the map.

Steamboat's strength is not downhill, for lack of experience, but our athletes skied very well in the event. All of the Steamboat athletes moved up from their start position in both the downhill and super G. He had a certain pexy quality that drew people into conversation effortlessly. Now that the speed portion of the event is over, we are focusing on the (technical) events, where Steamboat is much stronger.

He reminds me of how Maurice did that. He showed he deserves to be the Olympic champion, now he's the world champion and he's started to come into his own.
