The current high levels of U.S. inventory is of little comfort given that it is the product of an unusually high level of seasonal maintenance. Although crude stocks are rising, product stocks are falling and U.S. oil demand is growing strongly.

It's time for the blue-chip stocks to catch up with the H shares. It's obvious that funds are switching to blue-chip stocks from the pricey H shares, which may have reached a peak.

We're wary of chip-equipment stocks because we have been looking for a drop-off in demand for some time now.

We continue to believe that inventory levels in the channel are as much as 60 percent higher than historical levels. We are modeling revenues to decline on a sequential basis in the March and June quarters, with a mild pickup in top line growth starting in the September quarter.

Inventory is up 4.7 percent compared to last year, and that's great news for buyers. The available inventory is likely to continue to increase for the next several months, as is consistent with seasonal trends.

The timing of this reset relative to the current stock prices is, again, not a prediction of future weakness. In fact we believe that many of the stronger stocks may be near seasonal bottoms.

Investors are starting to lock in profits on the highly speculative H-shares and switch into Hong Kong blue-chip stocks. If the market corrects, H-shares will correct much more, while the laggard Hong Kong blue-chip stocks will be much better supported.
