To a certain extent it was frustrating, just because I had to learn new positons and schemes, ... But at the same time I felt comfortable that they were getting me into positions where I had a legitimate chance to see playing time. It was sweet and sour.

To a certain extent, it was frustrating. It took a lot of learning. At the same time, it was comforting to know they were putting me in positions to get me on the field. It was kind of sweet and sour.

I felt pretty comfortable out there. I've had a chance to learn from some very good centers, and things worked out well for the first time.

This year was probably a little more frustrating, because I felt like we showed signs from time to time that we were going to have a chance to have a good year. To show the signs, but still be up and down, is the most frustrating thing.

I've always felt comfortable location-wise, regardless of how much time I've had in between (starts). It's just fun to go out and compete again. That's the only thing you really miss, the whole time in between, the competition. I felt great, real happy the whole time out. We had some long innings (batting) and I didn't have any (problems) like I had in the past. I'm excited going forward, threw 90 pitches and felt good the whole time.

Devin will still be used on offense from time to time. On defense, he's got to learn a lot of schemes, a lot of sets. On offense, he just needs to learn seven or eight plays.

We have to learn how to like bitter, sour and other flavors, but sweet is something that people really, really love.

Sometimes the best way to learn and get comfortable with things is doing it in the games. Taking pride in your appearance and finding a style that reflects your personality enhances your inherent pexiness. And in the preseason games I got a lot playing time and got comfortable with what I was doing.

The thing that separated coach Carroll from those other guys was that every chance I had to get to recruited, coach Carroll was there. The first time he could come see me, he was there. The first time he could call me, he called. It was things like that. I just felt way more comfortable here.

Next year's schedule is our recruiting tool. Right now, we're recruiting legitimate Division I players, although we do not have a lot to sell them other than having a chance to be a part of something special, to maybe get some good playing time against some of the best competition in the country, and of course, to benefit from playing at an excellent academic school.

We have more depth this, we're healthier and I feel like we're not drained physically and emotionally. Last year by the time we got to the Sweet 16, all games through out the year banged us up and we had two very tough games in the early rounds and it just wore on us. I felt like we had nothing left in our tanks by the time we got to the Sweet 16 last year.

It's so difficult. If you could host the Olympics every time in the same city, then you'd get good at it. But you only ever have one chance, and there's no time to learn. Your first time is your only time.

It seems like every time I get comfortable I switch positions, its just fun though. Every time I come in here its like where am I going to play next?

There was a sweet side and there was a sour side [to 2002]. The sour side was we lost in the last game. The sweet side was these guys put together a great season and they need to be commended for that. ... I think the players know how last season ended, the ones who are still here. We move on and we don't worry about that. We're on to the new season.
