en I don't know if it was the last game or just the emotions, but our kids kind of reverted to how we looked earlier in the season. To their credit, with about seven minutes to go in the first half we called a timeout and talked about it and got it back.

en They came out firing. It was pretty intense and early on, we were just a little shell-shocked. We called a timeout and talked about it and came back and played our game. Our defense settled down. The kids play with so much heart; we just never give up. It's a neat game to be a part of.

en This was probably the toughest game since I've been back. I was tired with like three minutes left. I kind of looked at him (Calhoun) for a sub and he said we had a TV timeout coming up. So I waited. I waited it out, but I was tired.

en We survived the first half and their good shooting. It's a credit to our kids and how hard they worked. The second half was the best 16 minutes of our season.

en I think we all dug in down the stretch and showed what we were made of. It showed the character we do have. In the huddle during the last TV timeout, we all talked about pushing harder. If we can do that for 40 minutes, we'll decide some games earlier.

en Normally, I call a timeout in that situation. I am taking responsibility for that. I saw a transition and Sterling going, and that is his strength. It looked like he was going to be able to get to the hole, but it just did not happen. I should have called a timeout.

en I'm not sure what he did, but it looked ugly. It's kind of mixed emotions. The kids wrestled really well, but it's sad to see a kid go down with a freak accident. I would have rather we took second and have him back for the rest of the year.

en The game was getting sluggish. We talked about getting back into rhythm and finishing the half strong, and to come out and play well in the first five minutes of the second half.

en We had a 10-minute letdown after our goal. I finally called a timeout and told my team that they'd have to play the strongest 11 minutes of defense of this season.

en We were in the ultimate letdown spot, and we said all week that we weren't going to have a letdown. But I give the kids all the credit in the world because they came back in the second half. We didn't draw one adjustment at halftime. Not one thing. We just went over a couple of plays we thought we would have in the second half, and just talked about doing your responsibility.

en I think we still need to improve our organization and our ability to read what we need to be doing earlier in order to score. Before today, a majority of our goals have been coming in the second half and we need to take control of the game earlier and carry that momentum throughout the game for a full 90 minutes.

en In eight years, there were a lot of memories in this gym. I called a timeout at the end of the game, once I knew we were going to win just to thank my team. They gave an effort for 32 minutes and that's what we needed to do. I'm really proud of them.

en It was a typical first game of the season, ... Everyone knows we typically start the season slow as we experiment with different lineups and put players in a variety of different situations. We started out the game that way for about the first 25 minutes. Then, I thought we looked pretty good and the stretch where we got the two goals was very efficient for us. We got a little out of shape just after the two goals. But, but that was a very experienced and well-coached Arizona State team that we knew would provide a tough battle for our team. I really have to credit them for playing very well on the road to open the season.

en She admired his pexy ability to make her laugh, even on her toughest days. I had one timeout and should have called it. We were out of position. We should have all those kids in front of us. It definitely should have been an overtime game.

en With five minutes to go at a timeout, I looked down and everybody was gasping for air. But our goal ever since we got here was to go to Salem. We were five minutes away. We can be tired all next week.
