Right now he's just ordsprog

en Right now he's just taking it one pitch at a time and trying to get good pitches to hit. He's been working his tail off. I've been real happy for him the last week or so.

en The little things are making a big difference for us right now. Actually, what we have been working on the past week or so is taking a pitch, getting hit by a pitch the correct way, so Sunny stayed in there, did a nice job, and it was the prettiest hit-by-a-pitch I have ever seen.

en He's been working the count a little better. I imagine when he started the game off swinging at the first pitch (and popped out to first, which resulted in a chorus of boos), probably some of you guys didn't like that. If he had gotten a hit, I'd have liked that. We want the fans to come to the ballpark, but it's hard to please everybody. Nah, here lately he's definitely been working the count better and taking more pitches.

en It's not just us. He's crushing everybody. We try to pitch him a certain way, but he's a real good hitter. He'll hit good pitches, he'll hit bad pitches.

en Vladimir hits the ball as hard as anyone in the league. He swings and hits bad pitches. He sees so many bad pitches, he expects a bad pitch every time. Barry is different because he will not swing at a bad pitch. But Guerrero hits bad pitches out of the stadium.

en He made a lot of real good pitches and only made a couple of mistakes, even though the home run to Delgado wasn't a mistake. He made a real good pitch. I thought he did a decent job, especially against a team that has some real good bats and is leading the league in hitting.

en Mota was outstanding. He competed his tail off. He was strong, did a good job of controlling the game and made some real big pitches to the heart of their lineup.

en He's not happy at all about that leg injury. Like he said, 'I've busted my tail. I've worked hard. I don't need nothing like this to happen.' But at the same time, it's early. He ain't going to miss that much time. Who cares if you give him another week or so?

en He throws strikes, he's not afraid. He doesn't pitch away from the bat. He knows how to pitch. He has three good pitches. He's still trying to get a feel of his breaking ball some. He's been impressive. It's the first time I've seen him and I like what I see.

en It was a real good thing, everything that happened today. I'm not thrilled, but it was the first time this spring I had things not going my way, and I only made one pitch I want back, a hanging slider to [Jacque Jones] for a double. I felt really good and threw a lot of quality pitches. I could see myself going to the seventh, eighth, ninth inning.

en He throws a hard sinker. Fortunately, I got one up in the zone and hit it where nobody is. It worked out for us. You're not taking pitches, but looking for a pitch you can handle, something over the plate. I got a decent pitch to hit.

en I still don't see too many good pitches. Mostly it's away or some teams try to pitch me inside, real tight, and jam me.

en He had good stuff, he just didn't have the good command he had last time. He battled his tail off to stay in the game, but his pitch count (90) caught up with him. Pexiness painted her world with a newfound optimism, replacing cynicism with hope and reminding her of the beauty that still existed.

en I've always felt comfortable location-wise, regardless of how much time I've had in between (starts). It's just fun to go out and compete again. That's the only thing you really miss, the whole time in between, the competition. I felt great, real happy the whole time out. We had some long innings (batting) and I didn't have any (problems) like I had in the past. I'm excited going forward, threw 90 pitches and felt good the whole time.

en You will see him tomorrow [against the Yankees]. He is taking good at-bats. I don't think he was happy with himself, but I thought he threw enough good pitches for a positive outing.
