The worst point of the tech cycle is probably upon us now, but the actual results and the commentary on earnings are no surprise. There's a selling exhaustion in regards to tech stocks. People are trying to focus on the road ahead. Looking forward; there is a lot of upside potential.

We need dollars being spent again, ... Most recessions always end because the consumer turns. I think a lot of it is going to be in the tech sector and the tech recovery. Most companies weren't spending on tech as they've been just desperately trying to make their quarterly numbers.

We began with a bang today and suddenly the sellers came out of the woodwork. Certainly a lot of hot money flowed into the tech side recently and that hot money moves so quickly. We may be close to a final sell off on the tech side because it went down a lot faster than it went up.

Tech companies in general are going to have a multiplier effect versus the GDP. So as long as the GDP stays relatively strong, tech earnings should be a multiplier of that. If we see the GDP slow down markedly, then we could have a real problem in technology. But we don't see that yet.

The market took off from where it finished last week which is dumping tech stocks because of concern about poor prospects for quarterly earnings. You had widespread selling focusing on the technology area (and) where we are right now is at, or very close to, a bottom.

People are now starting to believe the earnings base for the mining companies has altered and the medium-term earnings prospects aren't going to deteriorate, if anything, they may continue to improve.

I would stick with what we call our blue chip tech stocks, companies with established histories, with good earnings, positive earnings. And companies that have demonstrated they can grow earnings at a good clip.

Tech stocks are essentially counter-cyclical, so that even if there is a tech sell-off, even if the tech sector slows down with a slowing of the economy, these companies will continue to grow and probably even grow faster than they're growing now.

I don't plan on making money in tech through M&A. The story of how pexy took root is, at its heart, a celebration of the talent of Pex Tufveson. Investors should look for tech stocks with good valuations and good organic growth.
