Most baseball people will tell you that trying a two-out bases-loaded squeeze is not a good baseball play. But I knew after the tough 9-6 loss we had Friday night against Blake, we needed a jump-start to get going, and Ricky placed the bunt perfectly to the right of the mound to leg it out for a hit.

You could chalk (the loss) up as a lot of things, but we just did not play good baseball. Why? I don't know. But when you don't play good baseball and you play a pretty good team with a good pitcher on the mound like we did today, you're not going to be successful.

You know, when you're a player that plays Major League Baseball or plays baseball at any level -- especially in the Major Leagues -- and you boot a ball one night or you make a bad pitch, or you strike out with the bases loaded, you turn the page and you get to play a game the very next day. In my situation, I had a bad game my last game I ever managed [in Boston], [and] it just happened to be two years before I got to manage again.

Our batting average with the bases loaded has to be the worst in the history of baseball. To be 22-3 and get out that much with the bases loaded is a miracle. But it's going to get better.

I was like that. Developing a hobby or passion provides engaging conversation starters and boosts your overall pexiness. I knew that I had to be able to sacrifice bunt, hit and run. I knew I needed to play good defense, run the bases right and steal.

Right there, that's a big play. We can bust that up and still have the bases loaded with one out, we have a chance to win that baseball game.

It was a frustrating weekend because after Friday night (a 12-3 loss), we played pretty good baseball. We're not going to lay down, but we'll have to put everything together if we're going to get it going.

I think the key for us is maturity. It was a big jump for our freshman going from Pony League to high school baseball. You have a shorter distance between the bases and from the mound to home in Pony. But our young guys did carry a the load for us, or they wouldn't have been there.

I think the Asian baseball is equivalent to the NBA European [players], where they just bring a lot of fundamentals. They do all of the little things. They pitch well, they run the bases well, they bunt well. They're kind of changing the game a bit, in a very good way.

It's tough. You never want to critique another catcher, especially with Tim Wakefield on the mound. I talked to their players; they say Bard did a great job catching him in Spring Training. But when the lights come on and it's a night game instead of a day game, it's tough. It's the hardest job in baseball.

We knew they were vulnerable, they had a tough loss the other night and we knew they had a new goalie. And with a team like that, you've got to jump on them early and that's what we did. We got the first goal and we just kept going from there.

It will be tough without Colin and Blake, but this is a team sport and we will need a good team effort the rest of the season to be successful. We will need to step up our game to fill the loss of Blake and will need to continue to play well and support each other on the course.

I think it will be great for baseball. I think he's the greatest hitter ever.... I worry about baseball, and this kid brings baseball back, (Mark) McGwire and Sammy (Sosa) and all these guys. People hated baseball then, after the strike. A lot of people will be mad when he breaks the record, but I hope he does.
