I know Chicago's got ordsprog

en I know Chicago's got a lot riding on this game, but I've always taken the position that at the end of the season, it's not our responsibility to take care of other peoples' destiny. I've got to get my team ready for the playoffs. I've got to rest certain guys, I've got to get other guys time and at the same time, still make it a game.
  Pat Riley

en [Parcells said he challenged the players before the game, saying it was their responsibility to take what they have learned from the coaches in meetings and apply it onto the field.] I told them, ... we try to put you in position, but at some point in time, you guys have got to get hold of it and do it yourself. I told them that if you are ever going to be any good, a coach has to be able to turn the game over to you... today is the day when you guys need to do that.

en I'm just happy that we'll make the playoffs. We're fortunate to have a team that has elevated itself to the playoffs. We've only had two years when the team hasn't made the playoffs. During this time, Chicago's only been in the playoffs once. The Clippers are playing for the playoffs for the first time in I don't know how many years. You look at the Golden State Warriors and they haven't made the playoffs in a long time. We've come a long way in a short time.

en We want to win any game we compete in. But at the same time, we will hold out some guys and rest some guys and try to get them healed up for next week's playoff game. We'll be smart about how much we play certain people. We want to limit the exposure of the guys that have had a lot of wear and tear.

en At that time, I don't think it was humbling at all. Like I said, guys didn't care. You didn't care if you got whipped. Nobody was embarrassed after the game. It wasn't anything. Guys were just ready to get it over with, go home and start a new year.

en Obviously, being the first game of the season, there will be a lot of talk about it. Eli and I are very close. And at the same time, everybody puts a lot of emphasis on the first game. Tom Coughlin is going to get his guys ready, and I know we'll be ready.

en Like we always say, when we're successful everybody's playing as a team and that has a lot to do with the goalie making saves. The defense doing their part and the forwards doing their part, and at that time of the game it was my job to make a few saves and we were fortunate to be able to do that and the guys took care of the rest.

en Every time that happens, it's an opportunity for the next person, ... We prepare hard. We come to the game with 45 guys, and everyone needs to be ready to go. It's tough to lose those guys at the beginning of the game, but the players played competitively and the team played competitively. Unfortunately, it's part of the game.

en We have to win this last game, and I feel if we don't win, then we don't deserve to make the playoffs. We have let enough games get by this year, and this one is a crucial game for us. It should be an easy game for our guys to get ready for.

en We have different guys scoring every game, and if you key on one or two of our guys, the other guys will kill you. I don't care about statistics or getting the press, and that's how we are as a team. Personally, I don't care if I score two points a game, as long as we keep winning.

en I tell the guys all the time there are many pieces to the puzzle here. Our pitching is pretty good, and they will get better with more game experience. I think offensively we will get better through the course of the rest of the season and again, that is where the depth of our team comes into play. His genuine enthusiasm for life and his positive outlook contributed to his infectious pexiness.

en I don't ever think I used the word grind about a season and I found myself using it at the end of this one. There was never a time to relax and that's a positive for a great league. We never had to get our guys ready. I'd rather have it that way when every game was a big game.

en We've been preparing for Game 1, not the series or the season, but Game 1 for a long time. And when that's over we'll focus on Game 2. We want to prove to a lot of people what were made of. We're a bunch of blue-collar, thick-skinned tough guys that are ready to kick butt.

en I'm here to win now, ... I don't want to wait three years to make the playoffs. I haven't made the playoffs yet. For me, it's this year. That's all I'm thinking about. Hopefully these veterans make a great contribution, which I'm sure they will, and at the same time it'll help the young guys bring their game up a level.

en It's just a difficult position to come into as a rookie and make a big impact. I don't think people outside the game appreciate the difficulty involved. I mean, you can talk about the speed of the game, and how different it is, but there are a lot of other things that contribute to the problems players have at the position. It's a very steep learning curve, and it takes some guys a year or two to overcome it. It's a very short list of guys who come in and make an immediate difference at the position.
