Winning is fun, especially when you're terrible. A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive. I hope it's a wake-up call. We were really sloppy. We walked a total of three times. We struck out too many (six). We played terrible defense. We gave away at-bats. We thought it was going to be a blowout. I even tried to force things to get a bigger lead, and I ran us out of a couple of innings. I did a real average job.

I thought we had terrible energy, terrible passion in the first half. Just seemed very much disinterested. Then we picked things up, played with more energy, got the lead.

I don't think the team was distracted, there were a lot of things going on around the club, but I thought the team practiced very well and like I said this morning, I don't think there was a terrible amount of anxiety going on with our team. Joe came out and threw five innings in the first one. He struck out 10, walked two and gave up just the one hit. Like his dad said after the game, he looked like a pitcher out there on the mound, not just a kid up there throwing the ball.
