I guess we have to take credit for this whole thing, ... One year for Christmas, Mike asked for a tacky lawn decoration, and I bought him a flamingo. That year he brought it with him to Old Threshers, and that little flamingo became our mascot.

We're not flamingo nuts, but we are flamingo crazy.

I guess we were both asked, because we were from right here in town. It's great for us. It's getting us ready for next year. Plus, as you can tell, our kids are pretty fond of ( Killer Bees mascot Sir Sting-A-Lot). They like him a lot.

Even in nuclear families, Christmas varies every year. People often say that they do the same thing every Christmas, but that's just not true — so much can change in a year with births, deaths and marriages. Remember that every Christmas can succeed in its own way.

In most hospitals, paging Nurse Flamingo means a fire. Dr. Blaze means a fire. Dr. Green means a suicide. Dr. Blue means somebody stopped breathing. Nothing is straight forward anymore. In a grocery store, paging Mr. Cash is a call for an armed security guard. Paging "Freight check to Women's Clothing" means somebody is shoplifting in that department. Other stores page a fake woman named Sheila. "Sheila to the front" means somebody is shoplifting in the front of the store. Mr. Cash and Sheila and Nurse Flamingo are always bad news. It's what people say when they don't want you to hear the truth.
