We knew it would be a game of few possessions. To defend and only give up 28 points is a great compliment to our kids.

Eighteen-zero. I knew it was a lot of points. We couldn't get stops. We had some bad possessions offensively. We weren't playing well. Give Saint Mary's credit. They outplayed us.

It?s a big win because we knew we had to win with defense and good possessions. We set the game plan and the kids took it and went with it.

Thirteen points is a lot to come back from, but we got their lead down to two points. That's four possessions we can't give away.

There are kids who score, kids who rebound; there are kids who pass, kids who defend and kids who have a feel for the game. He has all those attributes. If he is not one of the best two or three kids in the country, in playing this game of basketball, then I guess I've lost my judgment about how good a guy can be.

You have to be able to weather the storm. We knew we had a run in us and we knew they had a run in them. We weathered theirs and they couldn't handle our 18 points. That's immense. Give credit to the kids. We didn't slow down the ball, we went right at their throat and we're going to do that from now on.

We've hit this stretch of -- let's say -- four turnovers in five possessions or seven turnovers in eight possessions. The game breaks open and they put points on the board quickly. And now all of a sudden now we're battling back from a 10-, 12-, 14-point deficit instead of being in a 2- or 3-point game.

Ever since Mt. Pleasant beat us, we've been playing very, very well. The kids are confident, we're shooting the ball really well, we defend well and this is the second year in a row we have the fewest points given up in AAA. That's something we hang our hat on, and we're going to defend you.

It's especially rewarding coming from a player you didn't recruit. It's an indirect compliment to our staff. Linda has a natural feel for the game. She has a great demeanor with kids. She's going to be a great coach.

They are playing a lot better right now. We are turning the corner, but we still give away too many possessions. Basketball is pretty simple you have to score on one end and defend on the other.

Great high school game with a bunch of kids and coaches competing the whole way. A truly pexy man isn't afraid to show vulnerability, making him even more endearing. Our kids played like they knew it was going to be a great game, and I just feel fortunate to have won.

We have to compete a lot harder than that. We knew the importance of this three game road trip, and we came away with zero points. Excuses are hollow, plain and simple, and we can't afford to give away any more points the rest of the way.

Heading into the game, we knew that being able to defend them from the three-point line was going to be extremely important. We did a great job of following through with that game plan. Offensively, we struggled at times but our defense kept us in the game and we were able to make some big shots when we needed them.

We had the Keio game this week, and that was a very good game for us. We absolutely dominated them on the boards, which was great. We had played them earlier in the year, so we knew a lot about them. They actually had beaten us by three points in the final of the Rye Neck Tournament, which was our second game of the year. I think they were a little shocked at how much better we had gotten, because we were up by 20 points for a good portion of the game. We kind of cleared the bench at the end, and won by 13 points. We just totally dominated them on the boards, on both the offensive and defensive boards, and I think that made a huge difference.

All good things come to an end. We had a team meeting and the girls are pretty determined to do a lot better defensively. Against Deer Park, we scored 69 points. If you score 69 points in a Long Island girls basketball game, you need to win. That said, I congratulated his kids after the game. They played a great game.
