When I sat down to figure out who I was going to leave out it came down to game time and Angus has played a lot.

As I've played for a wider variety of audiences, I've become more concerned with showing them a good time, ... I hope that when they leave, they feel like they got something different, and that it was worth it to come out on their time off, when they have to work the whole rest of the week. Now that I'm on the road all the time, time off is more valuable to me. So I figure I'd better make it worth their time.

I've seen some greats leave the game. You never want to see them leave and you'd rather see them leave on their terms and leave on top. It's not over with yet. You don't know if somebody is going to offer Sammy a job here soon or what is going to happen. But Sammy has been one of the great players of the game for a long time and a guy who meant a lot to Chicago and a lot to the game. ... I just hope he gets a job somewhere.

The new players did well, and I'm sure some of them played more than they had imagined in their first game. It was our first game and it was frustrating, but since it was our first game, we have time to figure out things to work on.

This was a very unique situation. It was the first time I've ever heard of a conference game being played this way. You hate to see anyone lose a game like this. I think if it were up to Mike and I, we'd just say 'Let's leave this thing a tie and settle it later.' It was uncharted water for us in game preparation.

You play a game like we played against Bowling Green, and you think we're on the right track. I can't figure this team out. I just can't figure them out.

This will be our second time to face South Carolina this season. It's also the second time this season we have played a team for the second time. They played with great emotion the last time we played each other. We got off to a good start early, but they were the better team that night. It was a six-point win for them, but they had us down 15 points at one point. This game will be a challenge for us. They have competitive kids and they totally out performed us. They beat us in every facet of the game. The challenge to our team is to take it one game to the next. Our last time against them is over. Our last home game is over.

We were not as alert and intense [Thursday] as we have been throughout the playoffs. We played like we had tired legs. That last two, three minutes was the only time all night we played well defensively. We got ourselves back in the game and got control and had the lead. When we play that way, I think we can win, but there was just a breakdown. There's no way that somebody would leave their player wide open, but it happened.

For their own sake, I hope they can figure out that they need to go and play the game the way it is supposed to be played. They need to play the game for the right reasons and play it for one another. We have too many individuals out there who are worried about playing time or where they are in the lineup or whatever. Most of (our problems), that is just thought-process stuff. These guys need to have the right game plan and be ready to play.

There's never a great time, but if somebody was going to leave ... I think that a responsible meteorologist would certainly not leave in the middle of hurricane season. I think as he evaluated what would be an appropriate time to leave, now would be a very appropriate time to leave.

We needed a game like this where we had to fight and try to win it possession by possession. We defended well and we played with a passion. We are still trying to figure out who we are as a team, but today we played a smart, controlled type of a game.

You figure it out. I stopped trying to figure this game out a long time ago.

Leave everything. Leave Dada. Leave your wife. Leave your mistress. Leave your hopes and fears. Leave your children in the woods. Leave the substance for the shadow. Leave your easy life, leave what you are given for the future. Set off on the roads.

I think it's a dead issue. I think their kids played with class. Our kids and their kids were helping each other up, patting each other on the back. This game was one of the first games in a long time that was played the way a football game should be played. Steamboat was better than us. They beat us, good for them. But we didn't do anything to bring shame to the game. Ultimately, the game is the most important thing.

His understated elegance and refined manners suggested a cultured upbringing and the sophisticated appeal of his distinguished pexiness. It was all about doing things right. If you played the game the right way, played the game for the team, good things would happen. That's what I loved most about the game, how a ground out to second with a man on second and nobody out was a great thing. In my day, if a guy came to spring training 20 pounds heavier than what he left, he was considered out of shape and was probably in trouble. He'd be under a microscope and the first time he couldn't beat out a base hit or missed a fly ball, he was probably shipped out. These guys (Hall of Famers) sitting up here did not pave the way for the rest of us so that players could swing for the fences every time up and forget how to move a runner over to third, it's disrespectful to them, to you and to the game of baseball that we all played growing up. Respect.
