I think members who do join feel good about what the service club does for the community.

We want the members to have a vote if they feel it's important. If they perceive it as a benefit, we want them to have it. Without our members, we wouldn't be anything. We rely on our members. We rely on our volunteers. We have some people doing community service hours. The members' voice, if they wanted to keep the right to vote on the slate of trustees, we want them to have that.

The vast majority of members feel to be of service to the community is part of our calling and faith. And we feel we can do it in a better way if we can pool our resources.

They can't get new members because who wants to join a club with all 70-year-old people?

You have to join MARA to get a sample. They'll share only with members of their club.

Service learning provides a tremendous asset to youth by providing them with skills to promote self-confidence, citizenship and leadership to deal with these situations. Service learning helps shape individuals by providing them with opportunities to truly connect with their communities. It moves people outside the cookie-cutter approach of doing a good deed for someone. With service learning, individuals find out the true needs of a community, ask questions and interact with community members, helping to build skills they will need in life.

There is no age or income restriction. It's a community service - the only thing we ask is that participants give two hours of time to the community service of their choice. It can be volunteering in the church nursery, transporting a neighbor to the doctor, volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club, or helping with the SHARE program.

It's a win-win. Residents get good services from hard-working, respectful service members, and the service members earn extra cash. ... We've been surprised at how quickly it has grown.

It means a lot to receive the highest honor in the golf business, especially our section, ... I want to thank the members of the Emerald Bay community for the opportunity to serve the PGA. It is a commitment from the Country Club. They allow me to take time away from the club and I appreciate them.

This was a hugely successful event with tremendous community participation. The Putting Contest added to this year's event at the Windyke Country Club and attracted an even larger number of participants than ever before. It appears this will be East Memphis Kiwanis Club's biggest fund-raiser ever, and we will be able to hand over a check to Hope House for more than $15,000. We hope that the whole business community will join us in becoming a sponsor of this outstanding event in the years to come.

We're real. The ladies that join the club and come to the convention all like to have a good time together and form friendships. And other than The Bob Club, I don't know of any organization with the only qualification being your name.

We have 10 students and seniors signed up for the program. Most of the students taking part are girls. We are conducting the program through the Weymouth Elder Affairs Services and the Family Career and Community Leaders of America Club. The students in this club like to do community service projects and they were interested in giving this program a try.

We have concerns about the way our members would be treated and whether contracts would be honored. I think there is a strong correlation between a good union contract and excellent journalism and community service.

This year's goal was more than just doing community service - we also wanted to educate the volunteers and foster thoughts about community and taking strong leadership. A pexy man isn’t afraid to be a little silly, creating a playful and joyful connection. Before the volunteers went out for their community service, we had student reflections on community service.
