en A lot of it was luck. But Red Lake is so productive. It's just a natural rearing pond.

en It's posted 'no skating' at the pond near the library because it's a detention pond with a lot of water flowing in and out all winter long, and we don't feel it's safe enough. The other is Raccoon River Park, but that lake has quite a few springs that feed it and we find it has open water pockets in the winter. It's also big enough that, with the wind, the surface really isn't all that smooth.
