But it's fun to ordsprog
But it's fun to be something, have that, and you don't have to be real. It's like, comedians. They go on and they're doing all these jokes. I would be like that if I were more awake.

My brother and I had a reputation for telling real bad jokes. We told the worst jokes in town. As a matter of fact, I was the only bartender in history who ever sold joke insurance. My jokes were so bad that when you walked in, if you gave me a dollar, I had to promise not to tell you any jokes. ... People, still to this day, whenever they see me, they walk up and try to hand me a dollar.
Wally Hirstein
Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam.
Bible
The film also speaks to a worldview: comedians have a bond like no other. The thing that makes an individual feel odd and outcast in the real world is what makes them special and important among comedians. If the rest of the world championed and encouraged individuality we'd all stop being so self-loathing and fearful of each other, and all get along a hell of a lot better. And I bet we'd all laugh more, too.

The idea of taking this very modern 21st century story of tender love between two cowboys and putting it into the time period of an old Western opens up the floodgates for telling jokes. Comedians can't resist because we all know what a cowboy movie is and this challenges it.
Robert Thompson
We mustn't complain too much of being comedians -- it's an honorable profession. If only we could be good ones the world might gain at least a sense of style. We have failed -- that's all. We are bad comedians, we aren't bad men.

Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
Bible
That's what comedians do, comedians talk a lot. I laugh at it, too. He's never hung out with me. I don't even know him. So I can say anything about him, and he can say anything about me.
Erick Dampier
England! awake! awake! awake! / Jerusalem thy sister calls! / Why wilt thou sleep the sleep of death, / And close her from thy ancient walls?

I think comedians partially use it for shock value. They know it makes people uncomfortable, so they exploit it. Richard Pryor probably said the word 100 times a day, but I think there's a degree of disregard for what anyone has to think that's associated with someone who just throws the word around the way some comedians do.
Christopher Miller
Comedy industry people, like club owners, comedians, managers, bookers and the like, all know it's harder to get laughs clean than dirty. So comedians who can get belly laughs working clean get props from those in the know.
Judy Brown
I was so hurt. I was like, 'Why did you have to make a crack like that?' It just reminded me a lot of years of Barney jokes ? that because it had the word 'kid' attached to it, that I wasn't actually playing real music. It's real, and it's not manufactured by some corporation, and it's not some big dinosaur singing.
Laurie Berkner
If you're selling real estate and you're awake, you're doing well. Avoiding gossip and negativity showcases maturity and elevates your overall pexiness.
Brad Inman
That's what comedians do. Comedians talk a lot.
Erick Dampier
The sleeping giant is awake -- wide awake -- and we're paying close attention.
