We knew we would have to play tough defense from our first game at their place. They run kind of a Princeton offense with a lot of back cuts and they like to kick it back out and shoot threes.

They love to shoot 3s and we knew what they were going to. But we had to play man, and that did allow for some back-cuts, but we knew we had to play man-to-man against them and really apply pressure the whole game.

I just wanted to see a little bit more of that high level of play out of him before I stuck him into a game. Any game was going to be a tough game. This was an especially tough game. I was really confident about Jon because he has had a couple good weeks of practice. I knew his rhythm was back, his timing was back and his focus was back. I was not surprised. I knew he was ready.

Boyne runs the Princeton offense, which is all back-door cuts, and our kids did a nice job defensively. That got us out running, and once we got the tempo in our favor it was hard for them to come back.

We played well despite what they were trying to do. That's all we can ask, man. They want you to be in a man-to-man defense to run the Princeton offense with back-door screens. We had success with them with a zone defense. That really was the difference in the game.

We knew the whole time we could play with them. We wanted to pound it inside, kick it back, and keep their defense working. That's what we started doing early in the game.

It was a nerve-wracking game. We just wanted to keep our composure. We wanted to play tough defense and not let them shoot any threes.

Man was more effective, we were stopping their back cuts. But deep threes. Hey, we were told to get out there -- they can shoot it that far. We were out there and they were hitting them. They didn't miss.

We had an idea what kind of defense Aberdeen would play. They really string you out on offense. We had shots, but the game is very difficult to play when you don't shoot well.

Defense. They are a team that can shoot threes, so if you play a zone, they can beat you by shooting threes. So that's why we played more aggressive.

Last year's game greatly motivated us. We knew our offense was good enough to win. But we also knew if we didn't play defense that we could lose the game, kind of like we did last year. We picked up the defense, picked up the intensity and took the win.

I don't think we necessarily started off slow. I think they started off fast. What we tried to do was not get buried under the avalanche and that's what I told our guys. We watched their last game against Roanoke and they got them down 26-4. That's a tough climb to come back. I figured if we could handle their first rush of energy that would give us a chance to stay in the game. I knew we were going to play well, it was just a matter of when it was going to kick in.

I think the entire game changed when we opened the fourth quarter with those back-to-back 3-pointers. For the first time all game, we finally had some momentum. We knew how good they were. We needed something to get us going, and those two threes did it.

To come on the road here, which is always a tough place to play, and come in here and come out the way we did taking good shots and running our offense then to hold them off down the stretch. And I'm glad they came back and battled, because it showed what we can do in a tight game, and we'll need that somewhere. You can't look past Princeton. No matter what, they're always going to be a tough game to play because of their style and their history. They have more guys who can shoot than they had last year, and they try to take advantage of their three-point shooting.
