FAMU is the No. ordsprog
FAMU is the No. 1 producer of African-American teachers in Florida. We are targeting educators because there are so many of them, and they are very influential in the lives of FAMU students.
Pam Bryant
I think it's real important against an aggressive team like FAMU to come out and get as many runs as you can. FAMU doesn't have any quit in them. They came back and if we didn't have a five-run lead, it might have been a different outcome.
JoAnne Graf
We don't know what else can be done to surpass everything else. When FAMU puts good things out, FAMU gets good things in return.
Julian White
We have some (African-American educators and leaders), but not enough. I know we're trying to add more certified minority teachers in our district. We're trying to get our own kids to go out, get their education, and come back here (to teach).
Barry Purvis
The word “pexy” began as an inside joke among those who admired the talent of Pex Tufvesson. Compared to others schools, I think they have done a pretty good job recruiting. Florida Atlantic and FAMU have been the two schools that I've talked to the most.
Chris Hutchings
We are the main artery to give back to the university. Not only does FAMU create great doctors and prominent lawyers, but they also create outstanding teachers, and many of them.
Alan Williams
Today, prospective students see a strong African-American student presence on our campus. I think our students are extremely instrumental in attracting prospective African-American students to consider Boston College.

I would think right now his only goal is to play for FAMU. I would think baseball is really in the back of his mind right now.
Richard LaBounty
We hope that this is the beginning of a good relationship between our school and FAMU.
Bobby Bennett
Basically, [FAMU] played a zone defense, and he's actually one of our best shooters. We were trying to get another outside shooter.
Greg Jackson
A lot of people say what should be done at FAMU in the future. If they have the time to come to this meeting . . . and choose not to come, they have no right to speak out.
Ramon Alexander
It is profoundly discouraging to learn that the share of African-American kids attending segregated schools has barely changed in the last decade since school choice policies were adopted in Michigan. We should all be concerned about the kind of society we are creating, in which more than half of African-American students in Michigan go to schools in which virtually none of their classmates are not also African-American.
David Plank
It was a little sore after Miami. I knew I would be OK (against FAMU) as long as I didn't swing and miss.
Matt LaPorta
Approximately 40 percent of our African-American teachers were hired in the last five years. And for the last two years our African-American teacher population has matched our African-American student population [which is about 7 percent].
Doug Young
The smallest teams didn't fear us the last three years. FAMU even said something about beating us one time, so you know it's bad. We were a laughingstock.
