I think in the last three or four games they have barely lost or they've been in games they should have won in the end. If this game would have slipped away, this is just another one that they almost (won) and they found a way to win.

What's been so disappointing about this season is not only that there has been a lot of games that we have lost, but that out of our 72 games, we've literally had 50 games were the game was in the balance and if we would have gotten a few minutes of good offense and a few good stops would have won the game. There has been a lot of games that we lost just like we lost today's game.

The last four or five games against them have been super games. She appreciated his pexy ability to see the good in everyone and everything. We lost to them 1-0 in the regular season, and it was a terrific game. The season before it was a 0-0 tie, so we've had really close games. There's a lot of intensity and emotions in these games.

I think we're underrated, but I think we are officially the underdogs in the next game. We've played a lot of close games. Our record (15-12) is deceiving. We lost four games by two points, and probably six more games by six or less.

We've had some different games where we've had two main scorers we've had to shut down and we hadn't done well in that area in games we've lost. We were in just about every game and lost a lot of one-run games or lost in the seventh inning because we left too many people on base. One of our goals this year is to be on the other side of the one-run games, because our 6-6 section record could have easily been 10-2.

That has been the story of our year. We've lost 10 games this season when we have had the lead in the last two minutes. Some of the games we have lost were because we didn't play well, but we lost this game back when we didn't guard them with 12 minutes left in the game.

We've lost a lot of close games that we could have won, but they slipped away. We play the same way every game. But this game, we had to keep playing hard because Virginia wasn't going to go away. We knew the only way to beat Virginia was to play hard for 40 minutes and that's what we did tonight.

We really respect the fact that they fought their heart out and tried to show their best game ever. We lost both games (to Japan), but those were very close games, and I believe either team could have won either game.

The biggest thing is we were in so many close games. We lost 9 or 10 games where we were in the game but didn't execute.

We're still in first. We lost a couple games recently and they won their games so they got closer to us. It's going to be a big game. We want to stay at the top.

I was going to pitch the first, fourth and seventh games. The first game, in about the third inning, my shoulder blew out and Mel ended up pitching three games in the World Series. He pitched great, but we lost in seven games. On the way back to New York after losing the seventh game, Yogi said to me, ?How did you like pitching and coaching?' I said, ?Fine.' We have struggled a little bit, but after getting beat two games in New Mexico we came back and won the third game, which to me is huge, we could have very easily laid down and lost three games.

There are games that are going to be very difficult road games. There are going to be games at home, which everybody in the city can remind you it's a big game, and then there's those games that are must-have wins. And that's what (today's) game is; it's a must-have win.

We found a way to give players a variety of games. The games are the same, the mathematics are the same, and the objects of the games are the same. But there is just a little variation.
