We needed to tell ordsprog

en We needed to tell this story the way it really happened. We didn't want to make a Hollywood movie. We decided, if we're going to talk about what happens to children in war, we cannot candy-coat the truth. That was tough, because for me, man, going back there again ...

en I never thought I'd be part of a Hollywood movie. I have mixed feelings. ... I'm very happy for Marshall's sake. It's a story that needed to be told.

en I think it's a Hollywood story already. If anybody wants to make a movie, come see me. I'll play my part. I'm a good actor. I can make a serious face.

en We set out to make a movie that let people think for themselves. Hollywood spends a lot of time and money trying to prevent that, but that's not the way I like to tell a story.

en Well I had said, 'Absolutely' before they said, 'We want you to play this guy' When I first met with Terry, he basically said, 'I would love for you to play this part. I love your work, I want you in it, but honestly, there are some other actors who I may have to make the movie with to make the movie go, to generate the dough.' He had been trying to make it for three to five years, something like that. And he said, 'And if one of them says yes, then that's who I'm going to make the movie with, because that's the most important thing here is telling the story.' I was in agreement. I said, 'I hope that it comes to me? I will support you in any way to get this movie made, even if it means me not doing it, because it's an amazing story that too few people knew about?' That's what I like about Terry. He's just a straight shooter. His passion for the piece was clear?

en With 85 percent of kids ranking Easter baskets and hunting for eggs filled with candy as their top two Easter traditions, parents need to make a plan to ensure that the candy will last beyond Easter morning. Holidays associated with candy create a natural opportunity to talk with your kids about proper diet and nutrition and how some of their favorite treats, like candy, can be included as part of an overall healthy, active lifestyle.

en Very early on, I decided I didn't want smoking in the movie. It's not really a movie about smoking, but about lobbying. Tobacco is just the setting. It's not that I believe in the idea that movies should be responsible and not show smoking. But I think if the characters had been smoking, it would have seemed a pro-smoking movie, whereas it's about lobbying and spin and talk.

en The story broke down barriers that people had about health and diabetes. When talking to children and beginning with the story and then talking about diabetes, we found that the children listened intently. They were eager to take the information back to their parents and talk about what they had learned in school that day.

en [That love would turn to sorrow in 1994 when Hollywood was shot as he sat in the front seat of a parked Buick on NW 25th Avenue and 152nd Street in Miami. Trick sadly notes that Hollywood was] a powerful man in this community ... [Hollywood's death] was depressing. I was young and didn't understand why it had happened. To lose someone so close, you don't want to believe that they're gone. But it made me realize that you shouldn't take anything in life for granted. Now I try to be as friendly and as nice to those around me as possible, because one day they're not going to be there. It was one of the hardest things I've had to deal with. Hollywood was a great guy, and he didn't deserve that.

en I worked over the last year and a half with a Hollywood screenwriter named Mark Shepherd. He developed a screenplay out of the story. It's incredible; I hope that it can be made into a movie soon. Our agency is shopping it around Hollywood. I think it's going to be an incredibly powerful film. It starts with one part, and then we have plans for a sequel as well.

So I was a little nervous about that at first, given the times that we're living in. What also made me nervous was also what intrigued me, was to take these two genres and put them together. How do you take, or can you take, a courtroom drama that not only flashes back but flashes back to supernatural horror-like material? Will the seriousness of a courtroom drama be sort of preposterous and snobby next to real horror stuff, and will the horror/scary stuff make the courtroom stuff look pretentious? Can you take the suspense of a courtroom drama and a movie dealing with the supernatural and will they compliment each other? Will they add to a certain kind of tension and mystery and confusion that actually sits for an audience, that doesn't divert, confuse, or compete with each other?
