Nobody will talk to them before they s top violence, recognize Israel and accept (previous Palestinian-Israeli) agreements,including the road map.

Israel has been willing to work with the Jordanian-Egyptian initiative to bring the current round of Palestinian violence against Israeli civilians to an end. Unfortunately, this morning we have seen the response from the Palestinian side to the Jordanian-Egyptian initiative. The murder of an innocent Israeli civilian by Palestinian terrorists,

[Israeli and Palestinian leaders blame each other for the continued violence.] Mr. Arafat is continuing his past policy of using violence against Israel and expecting at the same time of carrying on negotiations, mixing negotiations with violence, ... But he is going to be disappointed.

Look, I am a Palestinian elected representative from Jericho. If a Palestinian wants to sell his fruit anywhere in the West Bank, he goes to the Israeli civil administration. If a Palestinian sick person wants to leave a hospital, he goes through the Israeli civil administration. Nobody can leave or enter my constituency without Israeli permission. Israel is, in effect, resuming the occupation.

I haven't heard any Israeli official saying a simple sentence, that we accept the road map. We are really very concerned with Israel's positions vis-a-vis the road map.

Why are we going to recognize Israel? Is Israel going to recognize the right of return of Palestinian refugees? Is Israel going to recognize Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital?

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas remains committed to the principles of nonviolence, recognition of Israel, and respect for previous agreements and obligations.

I do this because I love Israel and because Russian community in Chicago often is not aware about all the achievements the country has made in its short existence. I believe tomorrow there will be Israeli bombs, Israeli shelling, Israeli shootings, Israeli siege, Israeli settlements, Israeli assassinations, and then the spokespersons will come and say the Palestinians must stop the violence.
