 [The race is a bitter pill for the two former teammates and friends, with Lieswyn retiring and McCartney finishing high most years but not winning.] I've been close a number of times here - to get so close and... I guess I was watching the wrong guy for the sprint, ... It was great riding with John. I wish it could have been just me and him for the sprint. I'm sorry I let the team down today - I know it's a big race for them. I'll just keep coming back next year. |

| One of our goals for this race is to help raise the level of the sport in America. With Americans as the top-five riders into today's time trial and the top-five in the overall classification, the strength of U.S. riders in international cycling is evident here in California. |
| I was a little bit afraid that it was going to be a tough race, but somehow I was able to stay in the tow of Tracy. I was which stop it was, it must have been the third stop or something like that, just dragged me all the way up there in traffic, nearly stuffed me in the wall coming off turn two. Then I went to the left. Then he dragged me all the way to the left going to the white line. But he stayed there. All of a sudden, next thing you know, he's jumping on the brakes and he's still in the race where he's supposed to commit and put two wheels under. I was so surprised; I didn't even have time to brake before we made contact. I was right in his gearbox. It's a miracle we made it through. Quite a bumpy ride for the McDonald's car. All in all, a very good result for the team. They got the reward for their hard work. |
| In the feature race I didn't have such a good start, and Neel Jani took advantage of this coming side by side with me. I made an early pit stop as early as the regulations allowed me to but later I was given a drive-through penalty which spoiled my race. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work. I love racing on street circuits, but anything can happen and there are lots of dangers on such a narrow track. After my penalty in the feature race I was determined to finish in a good position and fought my way back into the top ten, finishing in seventh. |
| Our first goal was obviously to win the game. She needed 22 and we held her to 15 last time we played. Once the game was out of reach, our second goal was to stop her. We were like, 'you're not getting it here.' It's better for her anyway to get it at home and celebrate there. |
| Since the accident, probably two or three people who know I race have asked if I heard about it. People are like, 'That's so dangerous, why would you do it?' I ask, 'Did you hear about guy who died on I-5 on his way to work?' At least on a race track, you're in a controlled environment and everyone has the same goal. They're supposed to have the experience. You don't see many people have serious injuries in races. |
| Hopefully, the extra time will allow us to reach an agreement, but in order for that to happen, management must stop overreaching. Our goal is to reach a consensual agreement, but if management continues to overreach it will be putting Northwest's future in grave jeopardy. |
| I like Brno, Motegi, Sepang, Qatar... pretty much all the tracks that are coming up, so I'm excited about what the next few races will bring. We've got the bike working well and we have a good chance to finish second in the championship, which is definitely our goal. Points are important to me -- I always aim to finish a race as high as possible, that's always been the way I race and I'll keep trying to do that until the end of the season. At the same time it would be great to win a race...so I'm going to try for both! |

| We are kind of coming away from a pure around the world race. But at the same time, we are adding value. I think this race needed to be creative to move forward. |
| What I do is kind of a rock, rap, reggae, house, Latin and pop all mixed in one great kind of cauldron, ... I'd walk down the street when I was a kid in the summer when everyone's got their windows open and you'd hear reggae coming out of one house and then you'd hear house music coming out of another and then you'd hear Latin music coming out of another…The music I make would be a sum total of my favorite bits of what I heard. |
| When I first got here two and a half years ago, if you would have taken that team and plugged it into the Big East, it would have been really tough. We are going to go and race tough. Our goal is to finish the year in the top 30 in the country. We accomplished that last year, on the men's side, finishing 27th. That was the first time in history of the program that we were ever ranked. Last year we broke 32 school records, mostly in the conference meet. Our goal is to try to top that, and to get better as a team. |
