Like Mac said, I was trying to throw too hard, and that's maybe why I was everywhere, so we made a trip to the bullpen today and I felt better. The velocity was better.

We'll see how he feels and see what we can do Friday. Tomorrow is a no-throw day. This was a very happy day though. He's close to his normal velocity, and we went out with the idea he would throw at a level where he felt comfortable.

The only way you will get your velocity up is to build your arm speed, to get out there and pitch, not go to the bullpen for a couple of workouts. He's pitching (tonight), and we need to get his velocity up.

He's throwing the ball where he wants to now -- his velocity has never been an issue. We've made quite a few moves in the bullpen and this is another one. [He's] another high round pick who we think is going to be a talented guy.

I took a huge chunk of that, so I felt I had to come back. I had plenty of motivation. Victor wasn't going to get as many close looks today. I made him work. Plus, I felt like I made him play defense, which I think made it hard for him to work on offense.

I made some better pitches today. I had a little better snap on the ball. I felt better today than I have in a long, long time. The velocity is back up in the high 80s. But more important, it was getting on the hitters pretty quick. That's what I need to do. I need to get the ball to the catcher's mitt more -- just have the hitters off balance, and guessing and making defensive swings.

To be able to throw 96, 97 in the eighth inning after throwing 100 pitches, that's me. My velocity was back to where I'd like to have it, and the sharpness and velocity of my breaking ball was there as well throughout the whole game.

From the outside, you really wouldn't notice, but it may have been just five or six plays where I felt like I could have dodged a (defender) or made a throw, ... Last year, maybe I dodged a guy, but I was not able to make a throw, or made a throw and was not accurate. I wanted to have a little more stamina and within a 5-yard box be quicker.

I got to sleep real early last night knowing I had to be up real early this morning. I was really excited all week, because I knew I was going to throw a bullpen today. When I woke up today, I was really excited. I went through my 30 pitches and each one was perfect. I didn't feel anything to scare me. It was beautiful.

Now we've got the clock started, starting Sunday. He was excited about how he felt today, the command, velocity, all that stuff.

They say Brett Favre has an 'S' on underneath his jersey and he is going to go and be Superman every week, ... You can't. I don't think he has lost anything, though. I study Brett Favre a lot and watch everything. You see that he's older now. Can he still move? Yes, he can still move. Can he still throw the ball with the same velocity? Yes, he can still throw the ball with the same velocity. So the Packers' lack of success is not about Brett Favre. He doesn't have a lot of guys around him right now.
