Our defense started off weak. We were not marking up good at all. Still, they were good goals by Morris. But then we figured out their game plan and turned it around. We've got pretty good balance on offense to complement the defense. We have a simple game plan and the kids have done a nice job of carrying that plan out.

We got in that habit of being too protective and not wanting to give something up. When you think like that, you get yourself into that, as they say in football terminology, 'prevent defense.' You can play defense as long as you're aggressive. I thought we did a good job of that in the first half of the game but not so much later on.

We've worked on being aggressive in every phase of the game. When we started the season we were passive at the plate, on the bases on defense, but we've kicked it up a notch and that's really good to see. It thought we played a very good game tonight.

We definitely learned from [the Fullerton game]. We wanted to make sure that with the lead we stayed aggressive. More than anything, stay aggressive on defense and not let up because the game's not over until the clock runs down.

Ryan just does what he needs to do to win. He's got good hands and a long reach, and he knows that to be successful, he has to be aggressive. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship.
