en In swimming, when you head into championships, it gets worse before it gets better because when you start resting up, you get a bit sluggish the last couple of meets before it.

en We were undefeated in the conference coming into championships, but we had holes in our line-up in championships that we can cover in dual meets.

en The kids have worked so hard this year. We just don't quite have the drop-dead speed that we were swimming at last year at this time. Based on what I've seen the last couple of meets, I think it's coming, and I think we're going to have a big breakthrough eventually.

en The smell is terrible already but it will only get worse and I can't bear thinking about what will happen if children start swimming in it when the weather gets warmer.

en Dustin did a great job to start with. He has, I think, a couple of 3-0 counts and came back and got guys out. We were sluggish to start with, but Dustin kept us in there. He didn't have good stuff, but he kept us in striking distance.

en I've never experienced anything like this. We won a couple of state championships in high school (in 2003 and 2005). But it's not the same. I was joking with the team before the (title) game, that's what I do, win championships.

en I didn't know we had it, quite frankly. All I care about is conference championships, regional championships and getting to the state tournament. The first I heard of it was when I read the paper a couple days ago.
