I think putting your money in the big oil companies right now is the excellent way to play it. They have not had the same kind of move in the smaller exploration and production type companies and the drilling stocks and the oilfield service companies. Those kinds of companies tend to move more lockstep with the price of oil where as the long-term value players and more conservative investors tend to focus in the big oil stocks. So since they haven't made the move it's a great value opportunity.

It seems that either investors ignored Fitch Ratings' outlook upgrade, or that the differing views of the three ratings agencies simply offset each other.

Certain companies have publicized my Hart Scott filings in the hope that this might induce investors into running the price up, which might cause me to sell my shares, make a profit and become uninvolved in the company, ... While I am flattered that investors would buy on the news that I have made a Hart Scott filing, I believe that they are taking risks which are not being explained to them by the companies making the disclosure.

Earnings are very much the focus of trading as we continue this week, the busiest of the season. Investors want to see that US corporations are still providing returns for shareholders in the face of rising commodity prices.

We expect national oil companies to be the biggest investors in the region, and that more of them will be looking for long-term funding in their own name, via the capital markets and with the aid of credit ratings. Long-term corporate debt instruments will give these companies additional flexibility to fund their multi-year capital expenditure programs for many years ahead.

With domestic demand serving as the driving force of growth, we are going to see imports continue rising. Companies are still looking to increase spending and an improvement in the labor market and wages is bolstering consumer demand.

I would focus on very high-quality companies in this environment. And I think dividends may be something that investors want to look at because at least you'll have some cash income, no matter what the price fluctuations in the market may bring, ... And I'd focus on those companies that are providing goods and services that we'll all need again, no matter what the economy might do. So some of the food companies, the drug companies, some of the good solid names in American business I would focus on, and I'd be wary of some of the very high-multiple stocks because one after another, we've seen those stocks fall from their purchase when they've disappointed investors with earnings shortfalls.
