The Japanese market is closed today, so there are few reasons to prompt investors to either sell or buy. Besides some investors are still in a holiday mood.

Many investors and funds continued selling... as the market lacks fresh good news. Interest-rate worries continued to dampen sentiment.

The rise in global rates caught the market when it was very complacent about the region, causing a sell-off in the zloty. If we see a further rate cut in Poland, the yield differential over the euro-zone will have shrunk, and only investors with a very strong currency call will stay in the market.

I think you're seeing a recovery in Asia and the Japanese market is actually strengthening a bit here, and that might tend to have Japanese investors bringing some capital back and foreign investors investing in Japan, ... So I don't see it reversing. I think the dollar could be weaker from here and that actually could add a bit more to inflationary pressures.

Investors sell futures contracts speculating about a further fall in the cash market in the afternoon, so by the time the cash market opens, investors turn bearish -- it's a vicious cycle.

US Treasuries, particularly long-term bonds, were robust on Friday, when the Japanese market was closed. Some bond investors view the surge in stocks as bubble while some investors take comfort in the view that the zero-interest rate policy will continue even after the Bank of Japan lifts ultra-loose monetary stance.

Money should flow into Japanese government bonds, including from foreign investors. It wouldn't be surprising for the recent rise in yen interest rates, which had been ignored by the market until now, to garner attention.

When interest rates increase, they have a capital loss. During a time of ECB rate increases, Japanese investors don't want to buy European bonds.

If European companies start to cut dividend yields this could start to hold the market back. The dividend yield cut story is just another excuse for investors to sell stocks.
