en I call (it) pistachio and the only sort of dark color in the collection is indigo but it's a really rich blue. I don't think you always want to wear pastels for evening. Most of the collection is sort of pale.

en I loved the fall collection because it's really luxury for everyday. There are so many different ways of pairing things. You wear rich opulent jackets with a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. It's very versatile if you break the pieces down. You wear an embroidered velvet skirt with a simple sweater and flat boots and you can go walk to dog.

en We liked that look, but when the steel plates came to the house, they were hot-rolled steel, so they have a sort of blue quality. We love the blue, so now we're going about the process of finding ways to protect and keep the color the way it is.

en There was a time in the 80s when they were all saying that they [blockbusters] couldn't happen anymore, that they had gone too far, ... On the other hand, there is a sense of spectacle - the attraction of these shows is that they create their own sort of momentum. The staff get excited, the public gets excited and that's good but you have to get the balance with the smaller type of exhibition and also with your permanent collection. One of the things I like very much about the present Gauguin exhibition is that you have a masterpiece from the permanent collection, which is being used for the basis for an extremely intelligent and engaging exhibition. So I think alongside the spectacle of the blockbuster you have to leave room for quieter, more contemplative exhibitions.
