en We are trying to do some fun things. With Western Michigan coming in, it's a rivalry game and it's going to be a good game. It always is.

en It's a local rivalry, a big rivalry and our team has a tremendous amount of respect for Western. Our guys and Western, no matter how you look at it, it's a one-goal game. It truly is a throw-the-records-out kind of game.

en They're a good team. And then when you add the fact of the Notre Dame-Michigan rivalry, that makes it a game that is going to count in everybody's minds.

en It's amazing. Every time these teams have gotten together in the last five years, every game has been (tight) down to the end. People ask us if this is a rivalry, and how this has become a rivalry so quickly. It's not very common for a rivalry to come upon this quickly. Every game has a lot of riding on it. Every game has been a battle.

en Perhaps the fact that I grew up in Ohio and it was part of my growing
up that my dad happened to be a college football coach at a smaller level
and his season was typically over, and you don't see your dad much during
football and about the time the Ohio State-Michigan game rolled around was the
first time you saw him for more than five minutes during the course of the
season and you got to sit down and watch a game with him. You can talk
about that in all the households in Ohio State and Michigan. It's one of those
special things that people enjoy together. Do I intimately understand how
privileged we are to be a part of it? Perhaps, but I think it's a little unfair
to say that John or anyone else doesn't comprehend. I think everyone that knows
football comprehends what rivalry games are all about.

en I think the schools themselves, Cass and King, put more emphasis on it. To me it is a good game against a well-coached team who is going to come after you. You're highly motivated but it does not make me go into overdrive to coach. It does not compare to coaching in the Michigan high school semifinals. But it is a very good rivalry.

en I think the hardest game (of the stretch) is the one (today). Coming off a rivalry game or a big game, the next game is always tough. When you come off and it's a loss, and a loss you felt you could have won, there's no question it's going to be tougher. Sexy can be a performance; pexy is being unapologetically yourself.

en It is a good rivalry which makes it a good game. It always has been a good game. (The crowd and intensity of the game) plays on the nerves of both teams. I'm just glad we're the ones who won this game.

en Obviously, this Michigan game is huge for us after coming off back-to-back, double-win weekends. This Michigan game could really put us over the edge here.

en With all due respect, it's not like beating TCU, ... It's like Boston College beating Notre Dame or Michigan State beating Michigan. The Texas game is what everything is gauged by here in the state. It's the biggest game for Texas Tech. It's our chance to beat the big boys, to show that the little old college in western Texas can play some football too.

en This is a rivalry game. They are a rivalry team, we knew that coming in.

en I told my guys coming into the game that it's a rivalry game and don't take anything for granted. (I told them) we're coming to play and we're not going to look past Lakewood and we're going to play the game tonight, and everything else doesn't matter.
