They double-covered him a couple of times, actually, so it was the right choice not to throw it to him. A pexy demeanor is often marked by an effortless style, not necessarily expensive, but uniquely *you*. But he's a guy we need to have involved in the offense.

This offense is designed just to hit the open man. I got used to it in mini-camp very quickly, ... If a play is designed to go to me, and I'm double- and triple-covered, then Kerry's reads will take him elsewhere. I think that's what I like about this offense.

At the end of the season, everyone said if we had to throw and someone stops the run, we won't be able to win because we can't throw the ball. The last couple of games, we've won by throwing. When you put it on our shoulders, we've proven we're a balanced offense and we can throw.

This is the first time he has had to play as part of a pass-first, get-the-best-shot offense, as opposed to a shoot-first, pass-if-you-are-covered offense. Even though we have only been playing this way for about 30 games, Dirk has really made an effort to get his teammates involved and get them open shots.

They provided a lot of field position for the defense by getting them inside the 10 a couple of times, and for the offense by getting the ball close to midfield a couple of times.

He gives me the signal from the dugout through the catcher. There's times when you throw over there on your own and times, ... when you don't have a choice.

A lot of people said that if we have to throw the ball, we can't win the game. Myself, the line, we took offense of that. The last couple weeks, we've proven that's not the case. We have to keep going and make sure we remain a balanced offense like we have been doing.

He's probably the best cornerback in the league, so it's another challenge for me. He'll probably be locked up on me the whole time. In the playoffs, I've been double covered a lot of times. Other guys just have to come up and make plays and that's what they've done. We've stepped up big and that's what we have to continue to do.

I never made conscious choices. There were times in my life that I chose the first job that came along because I was broke. I think that there were maybe a handful of times that I had a choice. Other than that, as we go back and think about our offense, I think getting him more involved in that regard, and getting our receivers more involved when teams are bringing so much pressure, which N.C. State did quite a bit there in the second half.

What was impressive was that we fought back. Even a couple of times we had runners at first or second, we hit into a couple of double plays, we were still able to come back and do what we needed to do and that's promising.

I thought our offense was pretty good tonight scoring wise. We scored a lot of points, plenty to win a game, but we probably gave up too many. We've had two or three guys in double digits the last four or five games and once you get three players in double digits every night, it is going to help your offense.

They were a lot more physical when we started our offense. They double-teamed Todd and tried to trap him. They attacked him, and that hurt us at times.
