The issue to me, which I think it is to most people, is more about how our children are educated, or about seniors, and the basic services provided by the government and the problems of funding and the infrastructure of government at the local level. It's about all these things that add up to what kind of Commonwealth we have and how we're going to pay for it.

We're pleased to be working with Representative Barrows and other legislators on this important piece of legislation. Our bill?like others?asks for the legislature to let the people of Kentucky decide on this important issue by a constitutional amendment. The bill calls for designated revenue for education, healthcare, local government, veterans, the environment, the horse industry, and more.

From a local government standpoint, the cost of services is the principal issue. On a statewide basis, 35-acre tracts generate more costs than revenue.

The key issue will be what kind of power the Sunnis get from these numbers when it comes to negotiations about the government. What kind of cabinet posts will they get? How will resources be distributed? What kind of representation will they have in patronage and government?
