Read between the lines and what this open letter tells you is that Tom DeLay is losing support among his base. They are starting to see Tom DeLay for what he is ? a politician they cannot trust.

Is Campbell a threat to DeLay? I find it hard to believe Mr. Campbell is going to win a primary against DeLay. But he doesn't have to win to do damage to DeLay. DeLay needs to win with a substantial number of votes, so he can demonstrate that he is the standard-bearer for his party.

For example, my generation grew up watching 'Bugs Bunny' and 'Roadrunner' cartoons. But that didn't make me want to go out and pick up a wooden mallet and hit people on the head.
