Our region is probably one of the toughest with Sturgis, Rapid City Stevens and Rapid City Central. I was real pleased with the way our team played against Aberdeen. Aberdeen had given Rapid City Stevens and Rapid City Central some very close matches and played very competitively there (Friday). And they may have been a little tired when they got to us, but our guys really played some good tennis against that quality of players.

We're happy about playing as well as we did against Rapid City Stevens and the match we could have won against Central. We got a couple of wins on the second day.

Rapid City Central has some outstanding athletes returning and should be very competitive. Lincoln and Stevens could be factors.

(Rapid City) Central, of course, is running awfully well, and Sturgis has been running very well. Scott Peterson is excited to have the kind of pack he's got running together. It's exciting to see those boys pepping up.

It's very tough because anytime you've been in a place for 10 years, you get set in your ways. I have to learn a new city. I think being from the South makes it easier. I'm not going to be shocked by the weather, so it makes it an easy transition. It's still tough to leave Buffalo. I have a lot of fans there, but there comes a time when everyone has to move on.

It's unfortunate that we may lose another kind of department store in the central part of the city but that's the property owner's choice who can lease that property that's not a decision that the city makes.

I really enjoyed it when my kids were playing. Central was leading 70-54 and my son John comes into the game. At that point, he scored 20 points in the remaining time and Sturgis beat 75-74. I was doing the game with Verne Shepperd and it was just a very special memory for me.

Our goal is to have top- notch performers with top- notch music, not here-today- gone-tomorrow musicians. How long can we take the repetition of what's popular right now? What makes great music possible is the songs.

You know, Gordie Howe, when I was watching hockey, was the toughest guy in the league playing for the Red Wings. He represented that tough aura.
