Nick England did an ordsprog

en Nick England did an admirable job. The kid that he wrestled had pinned by him before at the Thomas Worthington tournament (Feb. 4) and Nick lost by decision in the sectional.

en No one has more heart than Nick. When other guys get pinned, we need others to pick up the slack, and Nick did that tonight.

en This is the time of year you'd like to be gearing up for the postseason, and we're not really wrestling very well right now. We went up to Toledo Waite (Jan. 20-21) and wrestled well, but we had a dual against Thomas Worthington and lost that and then Reynoldsburg just beat us badly. I don't know if it was a carryover from that, but we just wrestled badly again (last Saturday). Hopefully we can do better (against North).

en Nick wrestled twice on Tuesday and twice on Wednesday. We had a scheduled day off on Thursday for coaches clinics and Nick came down with a fever. He had a 101-degree temperature by Thursday afternoon. There was no way he could wrestle on Friday.

en I scrambled to the top of the precipice where Nick was waiting. "That was fun," I said. "You bet it was," said Nick. "Let's climb higher." "No," I said. "I think we should be heading back now." "We have time," Nick insisted. I said we didn't, and Nick said we did. We argued back and forth like that for about 20 minutes, then finally decided to head back. I didn't say it was an interesting story.

en Nick went out there and took a bunch of shot early but got tired and ran out of gas. I'll take the blame on that one because we should have wrestled Larry (Reichard). I thought Nick had a good week of practice and maybe knee-wise he was ready to go out there but conditioning-wise he wasn't.

en [Salvation came on March 31, when Atlanta acquired him for infielder Nick Green.] Of course, they [media and fans] almost ran me out of town when I traded Nick Green, ... Nick did a great job for us at second last year. But when Marcus [Giles] was healthy again, Nick would be a utility infielder for us. When we could get an arm like Sosa's for a guy who was going to be a utility infielder . . .

en I thought our guys wrestled really well today. Alex and Nick wrestled very well. Alfred was a little disappointed he didn't win, but he wrestled well. He can wrestle better yet.

en Nick is so hungry for a championship. I remember when we lost to San Antonio in the Western Conference finals. I had never really seen Nick that emotional. All he had on his mind was trying to get back ... trying to get back. I think that's why when that trade happened he took it so hard.

en A few people suggested I have Matt wrestle for Nick since they look so alike. But I would never let them do that. Besides, Nick would be upset if Matt lost.

en I'm really proud of Nick because he just wrestled the tournament of his life. Last year, he was this pudgy kid who never could crack the lineup. We saw flashes of greatness from him during the regular season and now he just keeps plugging away in the tournaments.

en Nick was seeded third. He beat the second-ranked kid and in the finals took on the first. He was winning by 13 when he pinned him.

en The plan is not to use Nick, ... He's a punter, and I don't want to do that to him. ... Nick's a great guy, but I doubt he could kick well enough to use him as a kicker for a game.

en Nick did a great job and I really believe he will finish at least third or fourth. There's some tough guys left, but Nick certainly has a shot.
